! The two way star is lighting it up on the camp circuit and picking up a ton of offers along the way. At the Lindenwood Mega Camp he ran a scorching 4.47 40 yard dash along with a broad jump of 10'9” and a vertical of 31'9”. Measured in officially at 5'11” and 173 pounds we caught up with him after to discuss his interesting year at CBC where he wasn't allowed to play varsity because of Missouri high school rules.
“I couldn't play varsity because I was a transfer so I the way I played I wasn't meant to be on the same field as JV players. It felt like 8th grade football.”
It is kind of absurd watching his tape against JV competition. He has been to a pair of camps at Oklahoma and Mizzou this month where he got offers from both schools. His first trip was to the Sooners.
“I played both sides of the ball that day. They liked my competitiveness and gave me an offer. I liked their history and relationships I had with the coaches.”
They needed extra bodies on the defensive side and he ended up being among the premier defensive backs at the camp that day. Does he have a preference of positions?
“I am an athlete so I will do whatever helps.”
Then he went to Mizzou where did work again.
“I balled out. I played just receiver there. Coach Peeler is my guy. We have had a relationship since 8th grade. I have always been on his radar and they finally offered.”
The home state offer was significant for McPike.
“It means a lot. I have been waiting for that one for a long time.”
At the camp in St. Charles he got an array of new offers including power 4 programs Michigan, Minnesota, and North Carolina along with Arkansas State and Austin Peay.
He is headed to camp at Ole Miss on June 18.
