made a statement at UA Next at the end of May. He is a corner at the next level and a Power 4 one at that! Measured in at 5'11” 163 pounds. Ran a blistering 4.46 forty with a 4.09 shuttle. Jumped 122.1” in the broad jump and vertically checked in at 36.2”. Earned an invite to another prestigious Under Armour Camp. Fluid back pedal running with man downfield and has speed to knock down pass recovering. Sticky corner who is very sound technically who can turn and run.
On tape Thompson shows he can high point interceptions and has good footwork and speed on the backend. Competes and is willing to chase down opponents running downfield on the other side of him. In one on one coverage he did a really nice job against several high quality receivers this past year with his technique getting his hands in batting down passes. Very good instincts on that side of the ball both on short and deep routes. Recovers so well with his speed.
He was pumped after a strong performance at UA Next!
“It feels good to be back out here moving and back at 100 percent. I broke my leg back in November. That didn't stop me. It feels good to be back.”
What was that recovery process like?
“It was long. I was on the couch for about two months not being able to do anything. I couldn't walk. My physical therapist and shout out to my strength coach George for helping me get my muscle back in my leg.”
Thompson can be a P4 guy on either side of the ball along with bringing juice in the return game. He is focusing on one side right now.
“Right now I have been prioritizing defense. That is where most of my offers are at playing corner and safety. I am patient, physical, and am a dog! I am going to go get it!”
What are the offers?
“Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mizzou, Iowa State, Iowa, Miami (OH), Toledo, and more.”
More major recent offers since UA Camp include LSU, Miami (FL), and Indiana. Notre Dame is a program he is high on and camped there this past weekend.
“I know it is a very prestigious school. It takes a lot to get in there with their academics. They have some hometown guys with Jeremiyah Love going to the league.”
Currently checks in at #13 overall and the #3 athlete in the 2028 class!
