This year's event was hosted by Piscataway High School and was, in my experience, their best yet. His dedication and hard work are paying off, as he appears more polished than the first time I saw him, sometime last year if I recall correct. I thought that he ran well - both straight line and his routes. As such, any movement Mendez made was a subtle one on his end, but more dramatic for the defenders to recover from. I think that his speed was not on par with the others who competed at his position group. A small guy, I thought that maybe running back ought to be his destination at first, especially how I thought he could not get out of his breaks good enough for my personal linking. However, later on Matarazzo showed that he pushes upfield extremely well and after effectively stemming his defensive back matchup, he stacks ahead of them to deny them any other angle but over his back to defend a pass.
