These next few months are build for athletes to show on their individual talents, but the position that can improve their stocks most are the DBs. At least for athletes here in WI we see a lot of run focused offenses, which give DBs less of a chance to show off their coverage skills. The summer camp circuit is build for DBs to show off their talents. Every camp has 1 on 1 reps where guys can get dozens of reps per day to highlight their skills. Those these new few weeks in particular are huge for the DBs in the Class of 2027. But who should we be watching for? I have a few in mind and I want to talk about them today.

Cooper was dealt a season ending injury after five weeks of football in 2025, but the '27 DB was able to pile up 13 tackles, 5 PBUs, and a pick during that half of a season. This summer will be huge for Cooper. Not only to showcase more of his coverage skills, but to also leave no doubt he is 100% following that injury. A lot of his junior highlights focus on his ability to keep things in front of him and then reading and bursting to close on the football. This summer I am hoping to see more clips of live reps of him showing that he can turn and run with receivers and I am also looking forward to seeing what type of numbers he can put up during combine portions of camps.

Lou is coming off a really productive seasons. He made 51 tackles, and 2 INTs as a safety for the Wolves of SP West. In his junior highlights we see Lou playing as more of your prototypical safety over the top who will read and close to provide help or coming downhill to run support. What I want to see this summer is how well he is able to play 1 on 1 coverage. That isn't a norm for him, but if he can b effective and show the ability to change direction and react to route breaks in a timely manner then that would secure his ability to be a three level safety. This will be a big summer for Lou.

The 5'10" 170 lbs DB out of Wisconsin Lutheran is set to have a chance at playing a lot of football in 2026. He was a backup in 2025, so this summer and fall will be his best push to earn those next level opportunities. I'm confident he has the talent to succeed on the backend after watching him do so at the Winter PRZ Showcase. Xavier is going to be physical and try to bully receivers early in reps. Pair that aggressive play style with potentially good combine numbers, and Xavier could have an offseason where he seems to come out of nowhere. So get him on your radars now and don't be caught off guard.

Caden has been building a solid resume. Two years of varsity experience under his belt. All Conference honors in 2025. 100+ combined tackles over the past two years and 3 INTs. As a safety we don't get to see him in much 1 on 1 coverage. Instead it is more of him covering ground, reading and closing, and then making plays on the ball or tackling. So this summer will be huge to show that he is someone you can trust in coverage. It will be interesting to see what type of success he can have in those battles. I also am intrigued by his top end speed and his agility numbers that he posts this summer. I will be keeping an eye out for him and hope to see him live.

Oliver looks the part of a next level DB, so this summer I will be waiting to see numbers to verify that he can play at the speed necessary to make it to the next level. Once he checks those boxes it will come down to how he performs in 1 on 1 battles. The fact he only allowed five catches on 16 attempts during his junior season gives me confidence that he will be able to deliver. In the end, the 1 on 1 reps will be a key piece to his summer and beyond as he could really bolster his stock if he can be someone you can ask to cover 1 on 1 at the next level.
