Every day is another day closer to the 2026 football season.

Throughout the summer, teams all over South Carolina will be eagerly prepping for the upcoming campaign. As spring practices come to an, we can begin to make some predictions about each team's probable 2026 MVP.

Region X-A has an abundance of candidates, but here are five players who are the likely frontrunners to lead their teams this fall.

GREEN SEA FLOYDS TROJANS

[player_tooltip player_id='1816380' first='Aaron' last='Fowler'] ATH, 2029

As a freshman, Fowler saw time at cornerback and wide receiver. Entering 2026, he's in a competition for the starting quarterback position. Regardless of whether Fowler emerges as the starter, you can rest assured that Green Sea Floyds will have the rising sophomore on the field in some capacity. With 4.6 speed and outstanding hands, Fowler is a threat wherever he gets the ball. New head coach Ty Sutherland's offense is predicated on running the football and Fowler should reap the benefits.

LAKE VIEW WILD GATORS

[player_tooltip player_id='1716715' first='Jalen' last='Clarke'] DB/RB, 2027

Clarke put up great numbers last season and would have been even more prolific had he not missed nearly half the season due to injury. As a running back, Clarke accounted for over 500 yards and eight touchdowns and is lethal in the open field. However, his future may be on the defensive side of the ball. He has potential to play in the defensive backfield at the next level and will be counted on to help the Wild Gators slow down Region X offenses throughout the fall after posting seven tackles for loss, six pass breakups and an interception last year.

LATTA VIKINGS

[player_tooltip player_id='1817573' first='Irangabiye' last='Johnson'] RB, 2028

Johnson was undeniably impressive as a sophomore, with the speed to get to the outside and the acceleration to turn any touch into a potential house call for the Vikings. Johnson finished the year as Latta's second-leading rusher and is likely going to see his numbers increase as a junior. After earning second-team all-region honors in the wake of his 974 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, Johnson will certainly be a marked man by every defense he faces in 2026. Fortunately for the Vikings, it might not matter.

MARION SWAMP FOXES

[player_tooltip player_id='1821491' first='Kaleb' last='Moore'] ATH, 2028

Moore stands just 5-foot-8, but his play jumps off the tape. While primarily a defensive back, Moore can also see time at safety. He finished with 68 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and five forced fumbles during his sophomore campaign. Offensively, Moore is a major threat in the run game for the Swamp Foxes and provides versatility as a playmaker, as he posted 389 all-purpose yards last season.

MULLINS AUCTIONEERS

[player_tooltip player_id='1604041' first='Nathan' last='Peracki'] LB, 2027

Peracki (pictured) is Mullins' most productive returning defender after notching 85 tackles and 12.0 tackles for loss last year. His coordination and athleticism mean that offenses will have a hard time avoiding him during his senior season. That is business as usual for the Auctioneer linebacker, as he has a chance to record 300 career tackles by the time the season is over. Peracki also has a nose for the ball, leading the defense in fumble recoveries last fall.
