Below, I picked five players who flashed as freshmen and carry great momentum going into the recruiting period. Get used to these names now before it's too late!

Check out these five 2029s who are primed to earn some looks this summer.

Bergan's [player_tooltip player_id='2139868' first='Justin' last='Werner'] is a player who I'm excited to see more of this offseason, as he's coming off a solid freshman campaign. Werner gave us several flashes last season as he tallied 24 tackles, four TFLs, and three interceptions. At 6'5" and 175 pounds, Justin stands out immediately on tape with his lengthy frame and elite athleticism for his size. This showed up well in the limited clips available on Hudl, where he demonstrated how easily he can match up against receivers in pass coverage using his fluid hips, quick change of direction, and great ball skills to make plays. A "heads-up" player who possesses natural instincts on the field. With Werner's size and the need for a new big target on offense, this should open up many opportunities for Justin to show off what he can do at TE/WR. I can see Justin walking into his sophomore season with an offer or two, with some big-time camp performances. Only a matter of time!

Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1619021' first='Jackson' last='Pilege'] joins the reigning repeat champions, Millard South, after a great season leading Westside's frosh squad. Jackson was highly efficient as a passer last season with 1,272 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and a 138.5 QBR on 67% completion rate. Although we may not see much of Jackson on the varsity stage this year (MS has [player_tooltip player_id='426566' first='Trae' last='Taylor'] - but they're also really good, so he'll probably play second halves anyway), I wouldn't be surprised if he impresses some coaching staffs at college camps and plants strong roots for his recruitment going forward. Jackson already has a skill set that is a bit more polished than that of many kids his age, and he really shines between the ears. He sees the field well and makes smart reads while maintaining good footwork in the pocket. Pilege has the arm to throw all three levels of the field and the accuracy to keep his receivers in stride. Buy stock immediately!

Bennington has been an OL pipeline for a good minute now, and that doesn't look like it's stopping soon with sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2139567' first='Graham' last='Durick'] on his way up. Just from the roster sheet, Graham already sticks out at a strong 6'3" and 220 pounds, with plenty of room to continue bulking up his frame, and he seems to have good arm length. Graham's physicality stood out on film, as he was the aggressor right out of the gate while also looking for a quick way to drop his opponent into the dirt for the pancake block. He uses his hands very well and doesn't let his opponents gain inside leverage. Strong base to anchor down when needed. Next-level prospect who is just starting to scratch the surface!

Omaha North's [player_tooltip player_id='2065484' first='Keegan' last='McLucas'] started the offseason with a strong showing at our winter showcase and could be in store for a big summer. Keegan is a player who looks the part right off the bat, with a taller, sturdier 6'4" 195-pound frame with great length for the position. I watched him compete as a tight end, where he displayed excellent catching ability with his massive mitts and the strength to haul in contested passes. He does a great job using his bigger frame to box out DBs when working his way back to the ball. I could also see Keegan emerge as a defensive prospect as he continues to develop physically and as a player. He has the frame and motor to be a versatile defender who can play DE, OLB, or inside linebacker. Sky's the limit!

The Warriors reload in the trenches with a hungry youngster in [player_tooltip player_id='1841626' first='Jeremiah' last='Amerson'] who has been hard at work this offseason. Jeremiah was another stud on the Warriors' freshman team, where he disrupted run games and terrorized QBs as a DE. Amerson plays with a great motor that starts with a quick get-off, leads into violent hand-fighting with linemen, and ends with physical contact with the ball carrier. Jeremiah also played on the offensive line, so look for him to also make a run at locking up a starting spot on offense. Lots to like with Jeremiah!

Make sure to follow @PRZ_OscarG for more news on Nebraska and Iowa HS recruiting.
