WEST PALM BEACH – Less than a week after spring football came to an end across the state of Florida, summer is officially under way.

While many across the country have no clue how important the month of spring football has long been to Florida high school players, coaches and fans, those in the know understand what it is to have colleges and universities at practice, watching spring scrimmages and games – and making offers to student/athletes, which can be life-changing.

No sooner do the college coaches head back to their campuses, the very high school player they were watching and evaluating throughout late April and into May, follow them back to their schools for camps and 7-on-7 events.

The ritual of attending summer events at colleges across the country started last Friday evening as nearly 200 talented athletes flocked to Keiser University for the first of many events over the next month.

The most successful football program in the state of Florida over the past five years, the Seahawks and head coach Myles Russ have appeared in the last the last three NAIA National Championship games – and were fully prepared to welcomed hungry prospects from as far away as the Panhandle and as close as Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and into Treasure and Space Coast areas.

GIFTED PROSPECTS MAKE A STATEMENT

As so many offensive and defensive players came out along with their coaches and parents, several turned heads during the testing, drills and competition.

Among those were Class of 2027 senior players [player_tooltip player_id='2117163' first='Blake' last='Herrington'] (Slot/Athlete, 5'9, 160, Haines City), Ethan Ruiz (TE, 6'5, 225 – 3.0 GPA, Flagler Palm Coast), John Hodge (DB, 5'10, 170, Sunrise Piper), Kayden Augustin (OLB, 5'10, 190, Davie Western), Hunter Brantley (OL/DL, 6'1, 255, Frostproof), [player_tooltip player_id='2198123' first='Ty' last='Caldwell'] (WR/DB, 6'3, 175, West Palm Beach Oxbridge Academy), [player_tooltip player_id='2210938' first='Michael' last='Trapp'] (OL, 6'4, 290, Ocala Forest) and Alan Rosado (OL, 5'11, 280, Clermont East Ridge – 4.8 GPA).

Also, 2028 juniors Brian Veal (Edge/OLB, 6'2, 200 – 3.5 GPA, Flagler Palm Coast) and [player_tooltip player_id='2171413' first='Stone' last='Campbell'] (OL/DL, 6'1, 240, Sunrise Piper).

Keep an eye on Class of 2030 quarterback prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1658865' first='Gavin' last='Pritzkau'] (6'2, 175, Central Florida Christian Academy – 4.6 GPA), who is one of the top incoming freshmen in the nation.

WAIT, THERE WE'RE MORE

In addition to those prospects, there were others who made an impact on the Keiser coaching staff:
