The last few days we have taken a closer look at skill positions by class to determine who is deepest heading into the 2026 season this fall.

Over the weekend we took a look at running backs and 4A stood out with the most ballers with 1,300+ yards a year ago, but it was tight as 5A was right on their heels.

Before that we looked at QBs and it was overwhelmingly 5A with six signal callers who topped the criteria of 2,000+ yards. The other classes combined had five guys with those kinds of numbers.

Which brings us to today when we take a closer look at receiver depth and - surprise - it is 5A by a considerable margin. Something most of you probably already gathered since the top-producing QBs were in 5A as well.

And, according to Mr. Obvious here, word on the street is that QB and WR productivity tends to go hand in hand...

To get an idea which classes were deepest we set the cut-off point at 650 yards receiving. 5A had 10 receivers who achieved those totals. There were only seven combined in the rest of the classes.

So without further adieu, let's take a closer look at who these playmaker wide receivers are:

The Top 3 in receiving yards was led by breakaway threat and multi-skilled athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1125716' first='CamRon' last='Fields'], with 5A KC Washington, who led going away with 1,281 yards receiving on 63 receptions, averaging 20+ yards per catch and scored 12 TDs in nine games. He was followed by 6'5 dominator [player_tooltip player_id='1326578' first='Brody' last='Schwinn'], from 3A Jefferson West, who had 1,005 yards on 55 catches and scored 18 TDs in 11 games. Rounding out the top three and the only other receiver over 800+ yards receiving was [player_tooltip player_id='2063079' first='Stratten' last='Ebers'] a 5A standout from Maize South who I recently featured, hauling in a state-leading (regardless of class) 75 receptions for 831 yards and scored 12 TDs in only nine games.

Following closely was 5A junior baller wideout [player_tooltip player_id='1425637' first='Jay' last='Curtis'], Salina South, who helped lead the high-octane offense to a couple of playoff upsets on the strength of 49 receptions for 772 yards and scored nine TDs; generational athlete, [player_tooltip player_id='933826' first='Cooper' last='Ohnmacht'], Great Bend, who is one of the best multi-sport playmakers in the state and hauled in 52 catches for 755 yards and eight TDs; Colton Nichols, Blue Valley North, a 6'4 wideout with sticky hands and an intimidating catch radius with 41 receptions for 696 yards and three scores; and junior speedster [player_tooltip player_id='1530379' first='Ray' last='Logan'], Valley Center, with 51 grabs for 678 yards and five TDs.

Rounding out the 5A group is a couple of ballers from Topeka Seaman who I have included but were just under the cutoff point, with 6'3 deep threat, [player_tooltip player_id='933824' first='Coy' last='Barta'] catching 38 passes for 642 yards and 10 TDs, followed by explosive teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1275249' first='Josh' last='Brown'] who had 40 receptions for 637 yards and eight TDs.

All of the above are juniors (except Schwinn noted above in the "top 3") heading into their senior year, but 5A also had a sophomore make the list with [player_tooltip player_id='1433331' first='Spencer' last='Crumrine'], Valley Center, who ripped off a 4.48 forty this weekend at the Top Prospect camp and had 50 catches for 735 yards and seven TD's last fall; followed by freshman phenom [player_tooltip player_id='1582714' first='Blake' last='Thomas'], Blue Valley SW, who continues to impress with next-level skills during camp and track season and caught 48 passes for 663 yards and six receiving TDs in his debut season last fall.

In the other classes, starting with 6A, was junior multi-positional athlete [player_tooltip player_id='856864' first='Pearce' last='George'], Maize, with 46 catches for 709 yards and eight TDs; and sophomore rising star [player_tooltip player_id='1083570' first='Baron' last='Marshall'], Blue Valley NW, with 41 for 684 yards and three TDs in nine games.

In 4A, sophomore breakout baller, [player_tooltip player_id='2101928' first='Jackson' last='Curry'], Wellington was the sole representative, with 44 snags for 664 yards and four TDs. In 3A, besides Schwinn mentioned above, the only other receiver meeting the mark was junior all-conference receiver, Luke Skinner, Rock Creek, who had 44 receptions for 651 yards.

In 2A, the only baller making the list was junior [player_tooltip player_id='1620507' first='Isayah' last='Barranca'], Cimarron, with 39 catches for 726 yards and nine TDs. In 1A junior [player_tooltip player_id='1113160' first='Noah' last='Hines'], Sacred Heart, had 37 receptions for 787 yards, averaging an impressive 21+ yards per catch and had 11 TDs in nine games.

In conclusion, get out and see these talented players this fall - you won't be disappointed!

And, most importantly...
