We have looked at all the positions now in the first edition of the 2029 Rankings! Now we grade each offensive position examining how each position group looks early on.

Quarterback

Grade: B

The value comes in the volume here right now. Early in the process there are far from sure things which isn't abnormal for the quarterback position. Only a couple of prospects have legit size already in [player_tooltip player_id='2174806' first='Carson' last='Noy'], [player_tooltip player_id='2130223' first='Bowie' last='Richmond'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1625164' first='Jimmy' last='Connolly']. [player_tooltip player_id='1153936' first='Armani' last='Ford'] has the highest ceiling as the Plainfield South signal caller is electric with the ball, but a little undersized. There are 25 ranked prospects with only one inside the top 30 overall.

Running Back

Grade: B-

Trio of backs headline the group from CCL powers Mt. Carmel and Brother Rice in [player_tooltip player_id='2144114' first='Lorenzo' last='Doke'], [player_tooltip player_id='2174817' first='Eric' last='Walker'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2174818' first='Mekhi' last='Hall']. [player_tooltip player_id='2206173' first='Jakobe' last='Baldwin'] is the other top 50 overall prospect from IC Catholic. No clear superstar for this group yet and the depth isn't really there.

Wide Receiver

Grade: A-

Pair of top 10 overall prospects at wide receiver with Simeon's [player_tooltip player_id='2173722' first='Jalonny' last='Billingsley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2174765' first='Emurion' last='Jackson']. Both are 6'4” freak show athletes that also star on the hardwood. [player_tooltip player_id='1926177' first='Brantley' last='Kozuszek'] was outstanding as a freshman at Nashville with great size at 6'2”. [player_tooltip player_id='2005663' first='Jameer' last='Murphy'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2129717' first='Elijah' last='Echols'] from Brother Rice along with [player_tooltip player_id='1920655' first='Darryl' last='Adams'] out of Mt. Carmel are all inside the top 25 overall. There are 16 wide outs in the top 91 so there is depth here.

Tight End

Grade: C

Only two prospects at the tight end position in the rankings. They are solid prospects with [player_tooltip player_id='2072252' first='Jackson' last='Kenney'] checking in at #40 overall from Minooka and Althoff's [player_tooltip player_id='1582766' first='Francesco' last='Heth'] just inside the top 100. With the tight end classes we have become used to the last few years this one doesn't live up to that billing.

Offensive Line

Grade: A-

Once again Illinois produces high level offensive lineman. There are a few prospects with varsity experience, but a lot of projection at the top of the board with [player_tooltip player_id='2174766' first='Corderro' last='Anderson Jr'] (6'7” 330 pounds), Piotr Nakoniczny (6'7” 315 pounds), [player_tooltip player_id='2143168' first='Shawn' last='Lazare'] (6'4 260 pounds), [player_tooltip player_id='1992003' first='Jackson' last='Bonebrake'] (6'0” 240 pounds), and [player_tooltip player_id='2177013' first='Jesus' last='Tinajero'] (6'3” 320 pounds) all being in the top 20. Overall 13 players inside the top 75, but we wish there would be a little more depth after that group.
