Garden State Gridiron Game Report: NY Hustle vs. WWIS Wolfpack

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Despite my strong distain for 7on7, its impact on the sport of football, the culture it is cultivating, and all that surrounds or comes with it, I covered my first 7on7 this weekend on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Prep Redzone produced the Garden State Gridiron tournament, a two-day championship event, hosted at Elizabeth Public School's William's Field and the city's downtown Todd Bowles Stadium. Day 1 of this event was a 10-hour nonstop, gauntlet of a marathon, with games every half-hour, on the half-hour. Nearly 35 U18 teams from as far as Western New York, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Long Island, as well as local teams alike, fiercely competed against everyone - their competition, the referees, event staff, coaches, spectators, security, and even internally amongst themselves - as nobody was safe.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With a lunch break, I did my best to cover each U18 team that was participating. With as much action as there was, I have decided to release my observations as game performance reports. Unfortunately, not all rosters were made available -neither by teams' managers nor Prep Redzone. Running his routes as he attached split safeties, he pushes them hard. As he runs a bit violently, he forces them to play on their heels. Shulters also showcased strong hands, while also extending to maximize his catch radius - also doing so to keep the ball away from defenders and gain an extra yard.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Quarterback #8, [player_tooltip player_id='344519' first='Anthony' last='Caratelli'], can really sling it in a tight window. Pressed up toward the goal line - an area where windows are narrow - he tossed an absolute bullet to the back-end of it for a score. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2170603' first='Juvens' last='Lindor'], who wore jersey #1, has an opportunity to improve his ball skills. On a jump ball in the end zone, Lindor mistimed his jump as he unsuccessfully attempted to high point the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jersey #16 belonged to [player_tooltip player_id='1305209' first='Qua'Yon' last='Williams']. The hometown kid did a great job actively attacking the ball, returning to it on a comeback. From there I watched Williams spin toward the sideline and turn on his second gear to separate and gain additional yardage and conquer the sideline. Not just a quick, agile prospect, Williams showed that he is patient and can adjust to fade balls. Also a fighter, he shows that he will really go up and get what he feels is his - the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jersey #19 was not listed on the roster. I noted how he lined up incorrectly and had to be adjusted by his teammates and coaches. Moreover, he made another mental mistake as he did not eye the ball into his hands for a drop.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wide World of Indoor Sports Wolfpack</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dylan Dean, who rocked jersey #6, quarterbacked the Wolfpack. As the shot clock was about to expire, Dean was as cool as James was, delivering a touch throw with enough loft on it to just flutter over the defending linebacker's head for a conversion. However, later on with the game on the line I noted Dean he never came off of his primary (or favorite) read when there was a play that he had to come up with.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jamus Greenstein repped jersey #5.
