What Can Talented St. Petersburg Catholic Do For An Encore?

If you followed high school football last season and made a statement that through 12 weeks, there may not have been a more dominating 1A program than St. Petersburg Catholic, you really had a valid point.

What second-year head coach Jesse Chinchar and the Barons did during a stretch of games from August 22 until the second round of the state playoffs is outscore the opposition, 615-100 with four shutouts and limited nine of the 11 opponents to a touchdown or less while being considered one of the teams to take seriously.

After a .500 first season with the Barons, Chinchar's team saw the 12-game domination come to an end in the region final against eventual state champion West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman, but when this program looked back at what they accomplished, every player and coach had to be blown away at the success this team had in 2025.

As the headed toward spring, the bar had been raised higher than this program has had since the early 2000's when they were loaded with talent and a yearly force in the state of Florida. They won their first district title in 20 years!

With 2025 playmakers such as [player_tooltip player_id='2109936' first='Larry' Shorter coming back, there are some impressive and proven prospects to lean on.

Coming off that 12-1 season, the expectations are sky high – with a solid rising senior (2027) class that features some impressive talent.

Here is a look at some of those prospects:
<!--
