PRZ Hoosier State Hustle 14U: Who Raised Their Game on Sunday?

The 14U was full of storylines and star performers on Championship Sunday. The stakes were higher, the intensity was raised and a plethora of players stepped up and played their best when it mattered most. Below are some of those stars.

Gmauri drew a lot of eyes both days, but I absolutely loved what I saw from his game on Sunday. He was a force on the outside, regularly abusing teams that dared to try and cover him 1 on 1. He's super twitchy and is able to get loose in the secondary with relative ease. He had a number of reps where he was able to secure catches against really good coverage with great leaping ability and sticky hands. Even on short routes, he was able to deal additional damage with solid acceleration that allowed him to beat out poor pursuit angles. Great overall day for Hodges. Absolutely a high ceiling kid.

Milton was a quiet and steady worker all weekend long for his squad. I took note early of his high effort. His release was smooth, he was able to win separation consistently and he didn't drop it when it came his way. His attention to detail on his routes was top notch, and defenders had a hard time changing direction and contesting his catches. I really like how hard he played and the competitive juices he showed. Really impressive weekend for Patty.

The PA native had a nose for the end zone on Sunday. When his team needed a big play, he was able to get loose in the secondary and provide a spark and an explosive play. He was another competitive kid who was giving 100% effort and doing all he could to help his team win. There isn't much to nitpick with his game, just a really sound and consistent competitor.

As far as the eye test goes, there weren't many more impressive than Evans. He possesses a great frame, and the instincts and football IQ to use it to his advantage. He very obviously understands how to use his size and athleticism to gain leverage on defensive backs, box them out and come up with some huge catches. He was especially productive around the first down marker where he was able to get the defender behind him and use his frame to gain position. Really excited about his ceiling, and I will be watching his development closely over the coming months.

Wadley was another impressive Bredwinners athlete. I love what he is able to do out of the slot. He's speedy and has an elite change of direction. He had a couple of impressive catches where he had to make an adjustment mid air and did it almost effortlessly. That body control gave him an extremely wide catch radius. Wadley has all of the makings to be an impact player on the Michigan high school football scene very soon.

Alonzo was one of the most impressive quarterbacks on the property on Sunday. I absolutely love how poised and confident he looked. He was throwing into windows with great anticipation without second guessing. His arm strength was good, as he was able to push the ball downfield with a flick of the wrist, and it was typically on the money. Even when things weren't going his way, he was able to rally his guys and continue to be the leader they needed. I am going to be following Taylor's development closely.

Jaymar was absolutely having himself a day in Indianapolis. His hands are elite, his route running was special and his catch radius is a mile wide. He had multiple jaw-dropping catches where he just made the defense look silly trying to jump with him. I absolutely love the grit and determination he showed with the defense hanging all over him, and his ability to fight through the traffic to come up with big play after big play.

Garth was one of the top possession receivers out there on Sunday. He was as competitive as anyone I saw all weekend long, and was physically very gifted. He's strong, physical and knows how to win routes and get open. He served as a solid safety valve for his QB any time the play started winding down and they had to get the ball out. He was in and out of breaks abruptly and plucked the ball out of the sky when it came his way. A physically gifted player with a ton of upside.

Makhi made the most of every opportunity on Sunday. Every ball thrown his way was secured, and he was able to out-athlete everyone trying to cover him. He has the physicality and speed to be a menace to smaller and slower DBs. His team depended on him and his win rate on his routes to stretch the field vertically, which he did so with ease. Great weekend overall for the North Hardin star.

Cyan is on a great trajectory. The 2031 has the speed and explosiveness to play either side of the ball at a high level. At WR, he runs smooth routes, and has a big catch radius despite his size. Defensively, he can backpedal and flip his hips with the best of them. His acceleration and twitchy athleticism allows him to close distance quickly and be an absolute shutdown defensive back. Really impressed with his trajectory and very optimistic about what kind of player he can be.
