Louisiana football standouts with all-state hoops honors | 2A

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The LSWA's releases of its annual all-state basketball teams has started rolling during the last couple of days of March and right into early April.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Several names throughout the week and a half of announcements should look familiar to football fans, including now the top-billed Outstanding Player winners in both Class 1A and Class 2A.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As always, Prep Redzone Louisiana will spotlight some of those multisport standouts for their work on the court, where many potential football prospects showcase their athleticism, competitiveness and other attributes once their fall season wraps up.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There were a handful of first- or second-team all-state hoops standouts in Louisiana's Class 2A lists — as well as some others earning honorable mentions — who also boast notable backgrounds on the football field.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Kellen Brewer — 6-4, 160 WR — Metairie Park Country Day (2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The son of former Florida and NBA wing Corey Brewer, now a New Orleans Pelicans assistant, is one of the state's top 2027 basketball prospects, but he's shown some highlight-reel pass-catching ability during his high school career as well. The younger Brewer lead his Cajuns to a Division-III Select championship repeat this year and earned superlative honors in Class 2A in the process with averages of 20.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.9 blocks per game as a versatile, two-way guard whose fingerprints were all over the title-game victory. Brewer's senior teammate, <strong>Hermon Dyson</strong>, earned a second-straight second-team selection with 8.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in his final prep season, and junior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1372199' first='Curtis' last='McAllister']</strong>, the likeliest future college football signee of the trio, earned an honorable-mention spot. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='642719' first='Elijah' last='Haven'] — 6-5, 220 QB — Dunham (2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The highly touted quarterback prospect took time away from AAU last spring and summer to get extra work sharpening his skillset as a passer, which paid dividends this past fall as he led his Tigers to the program's first state championship since 2004. He returned to the court this winter with his school team, though, and appeared to pick up right where he left off there as well with a third-straight all-state season with 14.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Haven earned his district's Defensive Player of the Year honors and helped Dunham back to the Division-III Select semifinals where it fell to Country Day on a heartbreaker in the final seconds.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jason Colar — 5-10, 190 DL/LB — West St. Mary (2026)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The second-team all-district defensive lineman earned second-team all-state recognition in his final high school basketball season during which he led the Wolfpack back to their second-ever state tournament appearance and first since 2017.
