Prep Redzone Illinois was at Collinsville High School for the Illinois High School Spring Showcase featuring prospects from the metro east and southern Illinois. It was a great event with a ton of college level prospects putting their skills on display in front of college coaches. Here is a look at the Top Tight Ends at the event!

[player_tooltip player_id='1271823' first='Tyler' last='McConnell'] (Pinckneyville – 2027)

One of the premier athletes in the 2027 class is McConnell. Plays both edge rusher and tight end, but he focused on being a pass catcher at this event. Long strides and smooth athleticism. Fluid cuts in his route running and has solid hands catching the ball. The physical tools jump off the field at 6'6” 205 pounds.

Matthew Wilson (Edwardsville – 2029)

Wilson is a prospect that made noise watching him on the hardwood this winter, but we like him more as a football prospect. At 6'3” 220 pounds he could play a number of different positions with his thick frame, strong lower half, and movement skills. Plus athlete that has good hands and is physical on in breaking routes.

Aron Herrera-Perez (Collinsville - 2029)

Really liked what we saw from this 6'3” 217 pound tight end from Collinsville. Excellent size, long arms, and thick in the lower half. Showcased considerable upside with his frame and easy movement skills. Got in and out of his breaks with ease.

Lucas Thompson (Triad – 2028)

Thompson is a legit hoops prospect, but it was good to see him on the hardwood. Jumbo wide receiver or tight end he has long strides and if he continues to fill out will be a nice option at the tight end spot.

Roman Preciado (Edwardsville – 2027)

This 6'1” 195 pound Edwardsville tight end really caught our attention. Broad shoulders with good strength and long arms. Fluid movement skills. Wide catch radius being able to adjust to the ball in the air. Hands are magnets.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105165' first='Reid' last='Brown'] (Olney – 2027)

Big fan of this 6'6” 230 pound tight end that emerged at the camp. Elite size and is easy getting in and out of cuts. Looks smooth in drill work. Long arms and long strides. Good hands and powerful with the ball after the catch.

Luke Beck (Mascoutah – 2028)

Interesting prospect here at 6'4” and 185 pounds. Long and lanky kid who will need to continue to add strength to play TE at the next level, but he has the frame to do so. Good movement skills and could develop into a nice pass catcher.
