Illinois High School Spring Showcase: Tight Ends Shine at Event

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>***Use Code “ScottyB30” for 30% off your subscription***</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Prep Redzone Illinois was at Collinsville High School for the Illinois High School Spring Showcase featuring prospects from the metro east and southern Illinois.&nbsp; It was a great event with a ton of college level prospects putting their skills on display in front of college coaches.&nbsp; Here is a look at the <strong>Top Tight Ends</strong> at the event!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1271823' first='Tyler' last='McConnell'] (Pinckneyville – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the premier athletes in the 2027 class is McConnell.&nbsp; Plays both edge rusher and tight end, but he focused on being a pass catcher at this event.&nbsp; Long strides and smooth athleticism.&nbsp; Fluid cuts in his route running and has solid hands catching the ball.&nbsp; The physical tools jump off the field at 6'6” 205 pounds.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Matthew Wilson (Edwardsville – 2029)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilson is a prospect that made noise watching him on the hardwood this winter, but we like him more as a football prospect.&nbsp; At 6'3” 220 pounds he could play a number of different positions with his thick frame, strong lower half, and movement skills.&nbsp; Plus athlete that has good hands and is physical on in breaking routes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Aron Herrera-Perez (Collinsville - 2029)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Really liked what we saw from this 6'3” 217 pound tight end from Collinsville.&nbsp; Excellent size, long arms, and thick in the lower half.&nbsp; Showcased considerable upside with his frame and easy movement skills.&nbsp; Got in and out of his breaks with ease.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Lucas Thompson (Triad – 2028)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Thompson is a legit hoops prospect, but it was good to see him on the hardwood.&nbsp; Jumbo wide receiver or tight end he has long strides and if he continues to fill out will be a nice option at the tight end spot.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Roman Preciado (Edwardsville – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This 6'1” 195 pound Edwardsville tight end really caught our attention.&nbsp; Broad shoulders with good strength and long arms.&nbsp; Fluid movement skills.&nbsp; Wide catch radius being able to adjust to the ball in the air.&nbsp; Hands are magnets.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2105165' first='Reid' last='Brown'] (Olney – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Big fan of this 6'6” 230 pound tight end that emerged at the camp.&nbsp; Elite size and is easy getting in and out of cuts.&nbsp; Looks smooth in drill work.&nbsp; Long arms and long strides.&nbsp; Good hands and powerful with the ball after the catch.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Luke Beck (Mascoutah – 2028)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Interesting prospect here at 6'4” and 185 pounds.&nbsp; Long and lanky kid who will need to continue to add strength to play TE at the next level, but he has the frame to do so.&nbsp; Good movement skills and could develop into a nice pass catcher.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
