The Colts took the lead on a clutch scoring drive with less than a minute to play, only for the eventual champs, Flyte7 out of OKC, to score a crushing walk-off touchdown as time expired.

In this report we will take a closer look at a handful of players on both sides of the ball who stepped up big this past weekend.

So without further adieu, let's take a closer look at these guys:

[player_tooltip player_id='1147299' first='Holden' last='Ferralez'] , 6'1, 165, QB/ATH, Sedgwick, '28, he is a young gun I have covered quite a bit since his freshman year and he just keeps getting better. This past weekend he showed his passing skills and command of the game in impressive fashion, completing 70+% of his passes, firing surgical strikes in the short game as well as showing good touch on the long ball and the ability to layer it in between coverages. Besides displaying a versatile arm he also plays a mature game, calling all of his own plays which is a rarity in 7v7, and demonstrating strong cognitive/processing skills with rapid-fire decision making . He has smooth passing mechanics and in particular good feet and eyes in the pocket working through split-second progressions and making instinctive adjustments. This guy is a gunslinger and ready to dismantle defenses this fall as one of the top QB's in the loaded class of 2028.

[player_tooltip player_id='1425448' first='Jaxon' last='Myers'] , 5'11, 170, WR/DB, Salina South, '26, also stepping up on offense as the team's top target was this game-breaking senior two-way baller who will be taking his talented skill set to Garden City this fall. He put his elite athleticism on full display as he hauled in 30+ receptions and scored 13 touchdowns over the course of the weekend. With the burst and lateral quickness to generate immediate separation, he also runs precise routes and has reliable hands that can make the clutch catch in traffic. He can also dominate on both sides of the ball as a ballhawk defender at corner or safety. Last fall he helped his team rally to a pair of major upsets in post season play while averaging 20 yards a catch and scoring 10 touchdowns. The Busters have a baller coming on board.

[player_tooltip player_id='1616521' first='Oliver' last='Kline'] , 6'2, 180, DB/WR, Emporia, '28, he is another rising star from the '28 class who caught my eye last fall when he intercepted a pass in the endzone and ran it back 102 yards for a TD. He has fine-tuned those talents this spring, further developing into a two-way baller who was one of the most improved players for the Colts. On offense he is a sure-handed receiver who can find soft areas in coverage and is fearless going over the middle to make the contested catch. He is a long wideout with a great catch radius and a 35" vertical to high-point the ball when needed. He is also a suffocating defender on the other side of the ball and had a pick and numerous pass break up's over the weekend. This guy is ready for a breakthrough season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1433319' first='Cooper' last='Cranston'] , 6'0, 185, ATH, Holcomb, '28, speaking of rising stars, this guy continues to display his multi-sport, generational talents as one of the best all-around athletes in the state. This past weekend was no different as he showed why he is a D1 prospect on either side of the ball. On defense he is an instinctive, uber-athletic d-back with next-level closing speed who essentially shuts down the air attack wherever he is deployed on the field. This weekend he intercepted six passes, including a pick-6 and a key pick in OT, and had numerous pass breakups. On offense he caught 15+ passes and scored often, showing off his blazing speed and elusiveness in the open field. This guy is already one of the best in the business and still has two years to go. Get your popcorn ready, it's gonna get good this fall.

Landon Martinez, 5'10, 160, WR/RB/DB, Buhler, '28, and last and most definitely not least is an athletic two-way playmaker in his first year with the Colts who has been flying under the radar so far, but is already showing signs that he is going to breakout this fall as a dangerous weapon with the ball in hand. This past weekend he was an active two-way baller who impressed coaches on both sides of the ball. On offense he has sticky hands, a knack for getting open and is electric after the catch. On defense he is even more impressive as a lock-down defender with great footwork and closing speed who can get in the receiver's face, flip hips at the snap and stay glued to the target the entire route. Last fall he had four interceptions for the Crusaders giving fans and coaches a glimpse of things to come. This guy is getting ready for a big-time junior season.

In conclusion, get out and see these talented players - you won't be disappointed! Also, if you know of any players not getting any/enough coverage that they deserve, please feel free to DM me via X so we can take care of that!

And, most importantly...

Keep Grindin'
