Here is the best of the best at the ATHLETE position in the Illinois 2028 class!    Bowen is one of the more coveted two way athletes in the class as a linebacker and tight end. As a linebacker he covers extremely well in space closing on the ball making interceptions. Chases down plays with closing burst. On the offensive side at tight end he can line up in-line or on the perimeter. Really runs well for how big he is. Crisp route runner that sets up his moves with quick cuts creating separation. High points the ball in the air. Can run away from defensive backs with his speed. Catches the ball with natural hands plucking it with ease. Competes as a blocker.     Bratton is a legit dual sport star as he is also a D1 hoops recruit. Electric athlete that is a silky smooth wide receiver. So gifted taking bubble screens and racking up yards after the catch. Major vertical threat that makes it look easy running downfield past defensive backs. Crisp route runner that snatches the ball out of the air on passes over the middle. Major return threat in both the kick off and return game. Such a slippery player that weaves in and out of coverage units. We believe he projects best at wide receiver, but does have some tools as a long and rangy safety with size in coverage high pointing and breaking up passes on the back end. Tackles well in space and flies to the ball on that side.     Thompson is an electric athlete that can return kicks. As a receiver he tracks the ball well downfield and has solid route running. On the defensive side at corner he can high point interceptions and has good footwork and speed on the backend. Competes and is willing to chase down opponents running downfield on the other side of him. In one on one coverage he did a really nice job against several high quality recievers this past year with his technique getting his hands in batting down passes. Very good instincts on that side of the ball both on short and deep routes. Recovers so well with his speed.     Fulton was a star this year in southern Illinois racking up 13 touchdowns and 1100 all purpose yards. In addition to his skills on the football field he is also one of the premier baseball prospects in his class in Illinois. Massive kid that could project as either a tight end or running back at the next level. Physical receiver that snatches it with his hands naturally while running away from defenses. As a runner he is a monster with his combination of size, strength, and speed. Spins out of potential tackles consistently. Powers over defenders having breakaway juice as well. Great around the goal line. Makes contested catches look easy.     Sutter's older brother Mack was a top 5 prospect in the 2026 class and is now at Alabama. Bo is a two way star that is a standout at both tight end and linebacker/edge. As a tight end he is a big time blocker that blows up holes first and foremost. On the defensive side as an edge player/linebacker he gets off blocks and makes plays. Chases down plays on the backside. Uses his hands extremely well to detach from offensive lineman.     This athlete is a standout at both wide receiver and corner along with in the return game. Such an easy acceleration to his game. As a receiver he is a solid route runner that makes acrobatic catches in the air. He is effective from multiple levels as a receiver. Adjusts well to throws that aren't always on target. Slick with the ball in his hands. Can move the chains. As a corner he shows good instincts making interceptions and fluid footwork closing strong on the ball out of his back pedal to knock down passes without getting PI calls. Tackles well in space on the perimeter.
