Bluff City has been a recruiting hotbed for many, many years now, especially when finding playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. While I don't see the depth within our senior class this cycle, I do see several prospects that could make an impact one day on the college level.

- A new series here at Prep Redzone Tennessee, we will look at the best prospects from the biggest cities inside the Volunteer State. Here we look at the pass catching prospects from the greater Memphis area that have a college future. It's a solid crop of prospects with several of them already holding P4, D1 offers and interest with others sitting under the radar, waiting for their opportunities. I also expect some new names to pop up as we work through college camps and into the Fall season.

(WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1556594' first='Lawrence' last='Britt'] - Lausanne: Considered one of the best receiver prospects from our TN2027 class, Britt is a dynamic pass catcher that has the ability to turn a short gain into a possible home run. His combination of athleticism, size and speed has just about every top program in college football after him and the Lynx senior is still far from a finished product. Bringing in a new quarterback in [player_tooltip player_id='1037302' first='Thomas' last='Heffner'] could produce a big senior year for Britt as he will be the team's top playmaker and potential go-to target. If those two can get on the same page, the Lynx might have a shot at competing for a region title while chasing after a state championship.

(WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1285495' first='Tae' last='Walden, Jr'] - Collierville: Walden is coming off a productive junior season that helped establish himself as a top tier receiver target coming out of the TN2027 class that has a lot of strong college options to choose from. The Dragons senior took a nice step in his progression last Fall where Walden showed improvement with his route running and speed to go along with his strong ball skills. He is still forming his body and coming into his own but the upside is real. Look for this Memphis area receiver to make his college decision soon as we are inching closer to summer commitment season.

(WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1103458' first='Tavarco' last='Jackson'] - Melrose: Two years ago, you could see the potential within this Memphis area pass catcher but Jackson really started to come into his own last season where you saw college upside and the ability to become a major playmaker on the college stage. The Golden Cats senior now returns as one of the best prospects coming out of his region that will have a new quarterback throwing to him but if the Melrose staff can figure that position out, they will have a strong receiving corps to work with, including Jackson, who has a chance to play his way into Power Four status before his senior year is finished.

(WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1580774' first='Carlos' last='Edwards'] - Melrose: Joining Jackson in the Melrose receiving corps is this elusive and fast slot receiver that is sitting under the radar but has the talent to warrant more college looks. Edwards has put forth a productive high school career thus far where he has shown good ball skills, solid route running and the ability to separate from the opposition. He is undersized and still needing refinement but I like what Edwards brings to the field and that's playmaking abilities that could be utilized in a variety of ways on the offensive side of the ball.

(WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1675680' first='La'Quan' last='Higginbottom'] - Germantown: Sporting great size with the ability to work the boundaries, Higginbottom is a talented pass catcher that is still waiting for those elusive offers to arrive. The Red Devils receiver has a chance to work his way into those offers with a strong summer camp season and a breakthrough senior year, especially with improved ball skills and route running. Higginbottom has a chance to become his team's top go-to target this Fall and if he becomes that guy, his stock will rise and his Red Devils team could be competing for a region title.

(Ath) [player_tooltip player_id='1857024' first='J.D.' last='Donaldson'] - Briarcrest Christian: Donaldson is labeled as an “athlete” inside our database but when you look through his film, you see an outstanding pass catcher that might have some of the best hands inside his region, maybe even the state. The Saints versatile weapon can be used in multiple ways on offense, including working in the slot. Dependability is a key trait with Donaldson, meaning when you need something to happen, he can deliver and do so in a big way. His recruitment has yet to take-off but I feel it will after a strong work in camps this summer.

(WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1666739' first='John' last='Painter'] - MUS: Sitting under the radar but has the college size desired, Painter heads into his senior year with the potential to become a “Top 20” wideout prospect from the TN2027 class. This guy is an FCS level prospect that could boost his stock into D1 status with good work this summer in camps and a breakthrough senior year. What I like about Painter is his size and ball skills along with his ability to run after contact. If he can increase his burst and explosion, college coaches might start taking a longer look at his upside.

(WR) [player_tooltip player_id='2123517' first='Luke' last='Turner'] - Arlington: Not too many people on the recruiting trail knows about this Memphis area receiver but Turner can change that narrative with a strong summer camp season and shown improvement throughout his senior year. What the Tigers senior has going for him is a physical frame that can be molded and strong hands that could be used outside or in the slot. I personally think Turner could be a flex tight end in college but he must get bigger and stronger while working on hands and physicality coming out of the blocks.

(WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1694328' first='Kyle' last='Aldridge'] - Melrose: If the Golden Cats can settle things at quarterback, they might have the best trio of receivers in the greater Memphis area with Aldridge being their top slot guy. This senior speedster has the ability to get open in the middle of the field then use his quick feet to generate yards after the catch. Aldridge is a bit undersized with the need to pack on additional weight but he is a solid slot option that has upside to develop further as he continues to mature.

Other Memphis Area Pass Catcher to Know: (WR) [player_tooltip player_id='1815541' first='Carnelius' last='Douglas'] - Brighton, [player_tooltip player_id='1720876' first='Chase' last='Wade'] - Germantown, [player_tooltip player_id='1865126' first='Desean' last='Brown'] - Southwind, Connor Jones - Lakeland Prep, (WR) Drake Butler - ECS

Bluff City has been a recruiting hotbed for many, many years now, especially when finding playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. While I don't see the depth within our senior class this cycle, I do see several prospects that could make an impact one day on the college level.
