SPARTANBURG | The future is bright in the state of South Carolina high school football, and we had a chance to look at the Class of 2028 first hand to see what they brought to the table. Here's a look at 20 guys on defense who caught our eye, whether it be at their individual position drills or in the competitive one-on-one session during Sunday's third session.

Brighton Wooten from Easley did a good job of moving past the offensive linemen during the individual session, showing good upper body strength. TL Hanna's Jy'zier McKinney was able to flip and turn his hips moving past the shields on the ground during the individual period. McKinney (pictured) also turned heads at the bench press, registering 25 reps, which was the fourth highest for Session III.

[player_tooltip player_id='1547109' first='Josef' last='Hudson'] from Mountain View did a good job of moving his feet and striking the opposing offensive linemen to finish off the play. Greenwood's [player_tooltip player_id='1820252' first='Malik' last='Stevens'] excelled in moving in between the cones and finishing through the drill.

JL Mann's [player_tooltip player_id='1605269' first='Jayden' last='Wheeler'] kept his eyes up like he was getting past an offensive linemen and getting up field during the individual session. Blackville-Hilda's Andrae Dash showed excellent athletic ability from bag to bag – and did a good job finishing off the drill from what we saw.

Central's [player_tooltip player_id='1827516' first='Jaylen' last='Davis'] and Chesnee's [player_tooltip player_id='1672857' first='Blake' last='Cochran'] each moved efficiently through the pads. Lake Wylie's [player_tooltip player_id='1824407' first='Kayden' last='Gribble'] did a good job of tagging the running back and clubbing up to make the surefire tackle.

Easley's [player_tooltip player_id='1817257' first='Eli' last='Porter'] did a nice job sprinting to get to the ball carrier. TL Hanna's [player_tooltip player_id='1793496' first='Conner' last='Ash'] did a good job of clubbing up and making the tackle. Lancaster's Lekeith White made a solid form tackle and wrapped up the ball carrier. Byrnes's [player_tooltip player_id='1581476' first='Nasir' last='Angram'] made a nice pass breakup in one-on-ones.

Southside's Josiah Pointdexter fought through the offensive line to get penetration into the backfield and get to the quarterback. Fort Mill's Hudson Maxwell did an excellent job of beating his man off the snap of the ball – he got back there so fast that if it were a real game, the quarterback would've been sacked immediately after ball was snapped.

Fort Mill's [player_tooltip player_id='2071106' first='Mason' last='Burt'] made a nice pass breakup, jarring the ball loose before the receiver could make the catch. Central's Martell Ruben and TL Hanna's [player_tooltip player_id='1718528' first='Demiyus' last='Thomas'] showed great physicality at the line of scrimmage to break up passes.

Wren's [player_tooltip player_id='2067768' first='Sloan' last='Sanders'] and Powdersville's [player_tooltip player_id='1823897' first='Phillip' last='Savage'] each ran a 4.64 in the laser timed 40-yard dash.
