DORCHESTER | When the prospects for Session I on Sunday took the field in the early morning hours, it was still cool, crisp and had a brisk wind to deal with. By the time it was over, the temperatures had risen and players like Summerville linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1816968' first='Eli' last='Pressley'] had broken a sweat.

Pressley (pictured) accounted for himself well in the early session by running the fastest 40-yard dash of the morning at 4.6. Given the conditions, that was impressive. But Pressley showed why his production on the field has been so good for a Green Wave program that had reached the last two Class 5A, Division I state title games.

The 5-foot-9, 186.5-pounder added 17 reps on the bench press, a blazing 4.44 on the pro shuttle, a 107-inch broad jump and a 23.5 vertical to his measurables. Then Pressley went out and competed well in the individual drills.

“It was good to see old teammates and guys I train with,” Pressley said. “It was a chance to come out here and compete and have fun. Being nominated is an honor and an opportunity to show off my talents.”

There was an abundance of talent on hand at Woodland High School for Session I and II (Class of 2027s) for the Carolina Coaches Combine. Let's look at some of the top linebacker performances from the two early sessions.

[player_tooltip player_id='1816415' first='Diavante' last='Irving'] Philip Simmons

As mentioned, the athleticism of the entire linebacker group as off the charts and Irving was no exception. He ran a 4.76 40-yard dash and handled the pro shuttle in 4.75. He also had a 109-inch broad jump and a 26.1 vertical. He displayed good hips and was able to turn and run with running backs and slot receivers in individual work as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1763266' first='Brayden' last='Harris'] May River

Harris hit the bench press 29 times, but it was what he did along with that impressive feat that stood out to us. He was less than 5 seconds in the 40-yard dash, added a 4.66 time in the pro shuttle and a 103-inch broad jump with a 24.5 inch vertical. He's going to make a lot of plays in the Sharks defense with that type of movement.

[player_tooltip player_id='1577696' first='Connor' last='Ross'] Carolina Forest

It's unfair to label anyone a workout warrior but Ross displayed another impressive stat line across the board. The 192-pounder did 25 reps on the bench press, ran a 4.93 40-yard dash to go with a 4.72 pro shuttle and a 107-inch broad jump. He was in attack mode during individual drills and showed he's ready for a huge senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1819769' first='Samuel' last='Gadson'] Woodland

Another Wolverine competing on his home turf, we noticed Gadson before the combine even began. He was 6-foot-1, 220 pounds and looked the part and then went out and showed the part. He also was sub-5.0 in the 40-yard dash to go along with a 4.78 pro shuttle. He played well in coverage and had good hands as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664526' first='Malcolm' last='Gordon'] Bluffton

Gordon showed a lot of craftiness in what he did in the individual portion of the combine. His overall numbers were not where he wanted them to be, but he took great angles in pursuit and was able to get to the ball-carriers quickly and with force.

[player_tooltip player_id='1422535' first='Jayvin' last='Risher'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1172368' first='Andrew' last='Massey'] Hilton Head

The first pair of teammates on the list showed one of the reasons Hilton Head was so successful last season. Risher checked in at just over 6-foot and 201 pounds. He was able to finish 14 reps on the bench press and had a 108-inch broad jump and 4.78 pro shuttle to show he could change directions quickly. Massey was 6-foot, 206.2 pounds and was 4.52 on the bench press, 33-feet throw with the medicine ball, 106-inch broad jump and 23 reps on the bench. Those two will end up creating a lot of matchup problems this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1822042' first='Derion' last='Baccous'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1821489' first='Benjamin' last='Watford'] Marion

We noticed this pair of teammates as soon as things moved into the individual portion of Session II. They both moved well and matched up against the running backs and slot receivers. Baccous made a couple of good plays on passes in the flat. Watford moved well in coverage and blanketed his guys for the most part.

[player_tooltip player_id='1823880' first='Christian' last='Charles'] Darlington

Charles checked in at 5-foot-7 and 171.5 pounds but ran a 4.79 40-yard dash with a 4.71 pro shuttle, a 26.5-inch vertical and 13 reps on the bench press. He was another linebacker that competed in the individual drills with ease and more than held his own.

[player_tooltip player_id='1604041' first='Nathan' last='Peracki'] Mullins

Peracki was able to get his hands on a couple of balls during passing drills and even picked on off with a great display of hand-eye coordination. He didn't scored as well as he wanted in straight-line speed but his 4.5 in the pro shuttle, 105-inch broad jump and 26-inch vertical was more than enough evidence that his change of direction and athleticism is going to allow him to make a lot of plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='1820078' first='Nick' last='Starlings'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1822589' first='Connor' last='Hamilton'] South Aiken

Here's a pair of teammates that checked in at less than 5-foot-7 but that didn't stop them from having a good showing. Starlings ran a 4.94 40-yard dash and added a 4.69 pro shuttle. He threw the medicine ball 27-foot and did 12 reps on the bench. Hamilton matched that with a 4.81 40-time, 4.6 pro shuttle and 13 reps on the bench. They both competed with a high motor and didn't back away from any of the challenges.

[player_tooltip player_id='1809951' first='Ethan' last='Lowder'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1811132' first='Daniel' last='Robinson'] Manning

Lowder (201.1 pounds) and Robinson (202.8 pounds) had great size and movement that is going to be pivotal in the Monarchs defensive scheme. Lowder is a tank and hit 34 reps on the bench press with an impressive 4.72 time in the pro shuttle. Robinson was the quicker of the two with a 4.62 pro shuttle but his other numbers included a 101-inch broad jump. Lowder will make a lot of plays on the interior with Robinson moving sideline-to-sideline.

Chris Parnell American Leadership

Parnell checked in a 5-foot-10 and 179 pounds with a 73.5-inch wingspan. He ran a sub-5.0 40-yard dash and showed good twitch by getting 4.93 on the pro shuttle and 13 reps on the bench. He's going to be a leader for American Leadership's defense this fall and based on the way he competed in individual drills, that's going to be a good thing.

[player_tooltip player_id='1820054' first='Jimmy' last='McCullough'] North Myrtle Beach

McCullough was another linebacker that was impressive strength and agility-wise. He had 20 reps on the bench while going 4.5 in the pro shuttle and 4.87 in the 40-yard dash. He also showed some explosiveness with a 117-inch broad jump and a 33.1 vertical. McCullough covered well and flashed great pursuit angles.

[player_tooltip player_id='1821246' first='Jonathan' last='Davis'] Pelion

Davis had one of the fastest times of the day in the 40-yard dash with a 4.48. He also impressed with a 118-inch broad jump, a 27. 7 vertical and a 4.81 in the pro shuttle. He's only a little over 5-foot-9 and 168.1 pounds but his coverage skills were as good as anyone. He ability to recover and make up ground was impressive as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664603' first='Ahmadre' last='Ricks'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1664498' first='Yachin' last='Gamble'] Crestwood

Crestwood is known to have some incredible athletes, and Ricks and Gamble have to be at the top of the list. Ricks was 5-foot-10, 189.1 pounds and ran a 5.00 flat in the 40-yard dash while doing 20 reps on the bench press. He threw the medicine ball over 30-foot and was 104-inches in the broad jump. Gamble checked in at 218.1 pounds and ran a 4.96 40-time with a 4.65 pro shuttle and 22 reps on the bench. Those two are going to anchor the Knights defense this fall.

Jah'Mauri Davis White Knoll

Davis was another athlete that made his presence known before anything got started. He was just over 5-foot-10 and 229.3 pounds and chiseled. But then he went out and ran a 4.83 40-yard dash and a 4.8 pro shuttle. Davis added 22 reps on the bench, over a 32-foot toss with the medicine ball and a 101-inch broad jump and a 26.2 vertical. He moved well and fought hard in individual drills and made himself known.
