For receivers striving to be elite, the off-season is critical to fine-tune skills and develop a rapport with their QB's.

With the importance of the passing game these days it is essential that receivers focus on as much quality time as possible with their quarterbacks, working on timing, unspoken communication and understanding each other's nuances.

The time spent is critical for enabling you to do your part to help the team go deep into the playoffs but also critical for working on next-level receiver skills along the way that ensure you get recruited.

In this report we are taking a look at six playmakers - three hybrid tight ends and three wide receivers - with all six putting in the off-season time to take the next step this fall.

So without further adieu, let's take a closer look at what these ballers have been up to:

TIGHT ENDS:

[player_tooltip player_id='1311567' first='Cole' last='Zeka'] , 6'3, 235, TE/DE, Wellington, '27, up first is a two-way baller I have been tracking for a couple of years now and he is ready for a breakout senior season. He is coming off a solid junior year when he caught 22 passes for 200+ yards and scored four times as a hybrid tight end/H-back who can also line up at FB if needed. As a receiver he has the size, athleticism and catch radius to create major mismatches against opposing defenses. He is also a physical, athletic defensive end on the other side of the ball who piled up 25 tackles, three TFL, three sacks and a fumble recovery. His off-season has been busy playing hoops, powerlifting and getting in speedwork. Coming up he hasn't finalized the complete list, but will hit numerous events this spring and summer starting with the K-State and KU camps. This guy has all of the tools and the drive needed to be elite and is getting ready for an all-state season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='934074' first='Stone' last='Zambo'] , 6'2, 225, TE/WR, Mill Valley, '27, next up is another athletic hybrid TE/H-back weapon with great hands and the physicality to blow open holes as a lead blocker, kicking out the DE or stalk-blocking on the perimeter. Since football concluded he has been busy playing hoops and is currently running sprints in track, while staying laser-focused on fine-tuning his craft in the off-season playing 7v7 and training with TopSpeed. He has a number of events lined up, including a full slate of team camps and scrimmages against powerhouse Bishop Meige and Rockhurst. He has also been on the road developing connections, meeting coaches and spending time with Central Michigan and is scheduled for Middle Tennessee State and Ball State next. The D2 front is hot as well, working with Central Missouri, Nebraska Kearney, Missouri Western, and Missouri Southern among others. This guy is a man on a mission this fall.

Tanner Hargrove, 6'5, 215, TE/OLB, Mulvane, '27, the final baller in the TE section is a guy who is flying under the radar somewhat but is getting ready to change that in a hurry this fall. He has already established himself as a versatile outside linebacker who played at an all-conference level last fall with 35 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, a pair of safeties and picked off a pass. And, as good as he has been on defense, he is getting ready to surprise people this fall as a weaponized tight end with an outstanding catch radius, reliable hands and the quickness and athleticism to make plays after the catch. This off-season he has been spending a lot of time in the weight room and doing speedwork while he decides on which camps to hit this spring and summer. He recently had a junior day/spring game visit at Washburn and has been working with Friends and Ottawa as well. This guy is getting ready for big senior season this fall.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

[player_tooltip player_id='1044864' first='Cory' last='Kirchner'] , 6'3”, 190, WR/ATH, St. James Academy, '27, up first for the wide receivers is a guy who I have been following for a while now and am anxious to see him in action in a high-octane offense after transferring from Spring Hill to St James this off-season. As a wideout he has next-level size, length and athleticism and along with having sticky hands, is particularly dangerous with the ball in hand after the catch. He creates immediate separation off the ball before rolling into precise routes and can make the tough catches over the middle. He has been busy in the off-season playing other sports while training with Gehrig Dieter and spending plenty of time working on timing and getting in synch with all-state QB @johnhornback99. He is close to finalizing the camps he wants to hit and is also playing baseball this summer. Buckle up, this guy is gonna mash the accelerator this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1275249' first='Josh' last='Brown'], 6'0”, 175, WR/ATH, Seaman, ‘27, up next for the wideouts is a guy who has been on my watchlist for a while and is coming off an excellent junior season when he hauled in 40 passes for 627 yards and had eight touchdowns for the Vikings in only nine games. He is usually split wide to utilize his speed and athleticism to carve up secondaries in the short game while also burning teams with the deep ball. It has been a busy off-season as once football was over he went right into training hard in the weight room and has also been spending time doing speedwork and catching passes. This spring he has been honing his receiving skills playing 7v7 and is getting geared up for the camp-combine season. He has also posted next-level numbers in some of the key measurables, including showing his explosiveness with a 36" vertical and 9'8" broad jump. This guy is going to be en fuego this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='2063131' first='Zavian' last='Rodriguez'], 6'1, 180, WR/DB, Olathe North, '29, and last but certainly not least we have a three-sport young gun from the class of '29 who I am looking forward to seeing make his mark on the varsity game. Last fall he saw post-season action on varsity on special teams and will roll into this fall playing wide receiver and defensive back as well for the Eagles. Once last season was over he went right into playing hoops and speed/agility training with Braden Cain and Xplode Sports as well as WR training with Gehrig Dieter. He also recently hit the YAA Kansas City Exposure Camp in March and will attend the Exposure Series camp in May. He is planning on going to camps at UCM, Arkansas and Pitt State in the coming months as well as playing baseball with North and then club ball this summer. This guy is putting together an impressive off-season and with a year of experience under his belt is ready to take an exciting next step this fall.
