Five Impact Transfer Defensive Linemen To Know

[player_tooltip player_id='1616163' first='Makai' last='Henriquez'] | Weddington

Henriquez has been on our radar for several years, and he continues to grow as a complete player. A top-50 player in our system, he's a linebacker-edge tweener with plenty of pass-rushing juice. As a sophomore at Porter Ridge he had nine sacks after 6.5 as a freshman. His get-off is excellent, and he plays bigger than the 215-220 pounds he played at last season. Expect him to have a huge season as he moves over to Weddington.

[player_tooltip player_id='2197543' first='Derion' last='Barfield'] | Millbrook

After a successful sophomore season at Sanderson, Barfield is moving over to state powerhouse Millbrook. With great size, he's still developing as a pass-rusher, which bodes well for his potential. He has the upside, given his athletic profile. I'm interested to see how he's deployed on a defense with two other established edge rushers already on the roster.

[player_tooltip player_id='2172185' first='NaShon' last='Overby'] | Dudley

Overby is a two-sport athlete, as he's also a standout on the baseball diamond, and he had an excellent season as an undersized 0-technique for Southern Guilford. Due to the role he played, he didn't put up magnificent numbers, and I wonder if the move to Dudley will help him in that department. He's surrounded by quality defensive linemen, and the Panthers typically have a fierce pass-rush. With Overby on the inside, I think we could see an uptick in sack and tackle production.

[player_tooltip player_id='1616169' first='Graysen' last='Barringer'] | West Forsyth

Barringer was a versatile defensive lineman for Atkins last season, playing all over the line of scrimmage and even taking some snaps as a short-yardage running back. That versatility has served him well, and he'll bring that talent to a West Forsyth squad that has some talent in its front seven. He's a better run stopper than pass rusher right now, but he's shown some promise when it comes to getting after the quarterback.

[player_tooltip player_id='1815488' first='Kaiden' last='Womack'] | Hough

Womack emerged as a threat off the edge last year for Terry Sanford, and now moves over to a crowded defensive line group at Hough. He has some pass-rushing upside, given his build and length, and the Huskies will look to unlock that potential this season. I think we'll see him take a step forward as a junior, especially as he gets better at finishing plays.
