Over the years there have been numerous athletes overlooked in the Northwest because they are playing small school ball. Here we take a look at the top athletes in Washington returning next season from the 2A level on down. We will do the same thing in Oregon.

You will see some of the top prospects in the state listed here with D1 offers and others who have stocks that are rising and could make a nice jump up the PRZ Rankings board when updated..

DEFENSE

Defensively the small schools have some dudes. New Mexico commit [player_tooltip player_id='1188077' first='Tayven' last='Collins'] is the real deal in my opinion and he could be one of the top safeties in America collegiately.

Separate from that, Washington has athletes with size everywhere. 6-6 235-pound D end [player_tooltip player_id='1188136' first='Kell' last='Reardon'] was a 1st team all-state selection, finishing with 70 tackles, 12.5 TFL's, and 9.5 sacks as a junior. He will likely make a significant jump up the rankings board. [player_tooltip player_id='2007751' first='Logan' last='Rogers'] of Sehome was a 1st team all league selection on both sides of the football and looked great on D totaling 32 tackles with 7.5 TFL's and 5 sacks.

6-1 270 pound [player_tooltip player_id='2156005' first='Rayben' last='Jurgens'] was physically dominant earning 1st team all state accolades, while putting together some 5v5 film worth checking out. [player_tooltip player_id='2156006' first='Hudson' last='Hall'] of DeSales in Walla Walla was named the 1B state POY with [player_tooltip player_id='1200859' first='Angelo' last='Williams'] of Life Christian showing up on the camp circuit and doing well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2156007' first='Malachi' last='Koenen'] of Lynden HS had one of the most impressive seasons of any player in Washington regardless of level, being named the 2A Player of the Year. [player_tooltip player_id='2156008' first='Dre' last='Quintino'] was right there with him earning 1st team all-state honors.

Lynden Christian will bring back two of the fastest rising prospects in the state in Chris Kooiman who we already talked about on offense and [player_tooltip player_id='2156010' first='Kaden' last='Veldman'] who might have the best tape of any player on either side of the ball. The 6-3 215-pound Veldman was a 1st team all-state selection and flew around like a crazy person making plays everywhere. He should move way up the rankings board when updated, racking up 60+ tackles, with 15.5 TFL's, and 3 sacks to go with 8 total TDs.

6-4 205-pound [player_tooltip player_id='2156015' first='Max' last='Grindy'] is a guy you've probably never heard of, but he can play, being named the 1A POY at ACH. Two smaller backers who are pound for pound two of the best players in the state include [player_tooltip player_id='1615878' first='Jack' last='Hopen'] of 2A power Anacortes and talented 5-7 190 LB [player_tooltip player_id='1195088' first='Jacoby' last='Tait'] with both of them already being ranked.

In the secondary [player_tooltip player_id='2156019' first='Grady' last='Wall'] of Tumwater was more than deserving of his conference POY honors on defense. He will be a favorite for 2A player of the year accolades next season. 5-8 165-pound corner [player_tooltip player_id='1188101' first='Noah' last='Maxwell'] of Steilacoom is one of the most decorated players in Washington returning next year, being named a 3x 1st team all-league and 2x 1st team all-state pick. Kids a baller.

In all honesty I didn't even know about 6-5 1st team all-state DB Grant Wardenaar of Royal HS who is an unreal hooper and a top scorer within WA. Last but not definitely not least [player_tooltip player_id='584995' first='Jeremiah' last='Orcutt'] of Franklin Pierce, who is one of the few with a D1 offer. He was off the charts good last year, finishing with 67 tackles, 4 INTs, and 12 PBU's.

DL [player_tooltip player_id='2156005' first='Rayben' last='Jurgens'] 27' Newport

DL [player_tooltip player_id='1188136' first='Kell' last='Reardon'] 27' Mt Baker

DL [player_tooltip player_id='2156006' first='Hudson' last='Hall'] 27' DeSales

DL [player_tooltip player_id='2007751' first='Logan' last='Rogers'] 27' Sehome

DL [player_tooltip player_id='1200859' first='Angelo' last='Williams'] 28' Life Christian

LB [player_tooltip player_id='2156007' first='Malachi' last='Koenen'] 27' Lynden

LB [player_tooltip player_id='2156008' first='Dre' last='Quintino'] 27' Anacortes

LB [player_tooltip player_id='1766242' first='Christopher' last='Kooiman'] 27' Lynden Christian

LB [player_tooltip player_id='2156010' first='Kaden' last='Veldman'] 27' Lynden Christian

LB [player_tooltip player_id='2156015' first='Max' last='Grindy'] 27' ACH

LB [player_tooltip player_id='1195088' first='Jacoby' last='Tait'] 28' Cashmere

LB [player_tooltip player_id='1615878' first='Jack' last='Hopen'] 28' Anacortes

DB [player_tooltip player_id='1188101' first='Noah' last='Maxwell'] 27' Steilacoom

DB [player_tooltip player_id='1188077' first='Tayven' last='Collins'] 27' Cascade Christian

DB [player_tooltip player_id='2156019' first='Grady' last='Wall'] 27' Tumwater

DB Grant Wardenaar 27' Royal

DB [player_tooltip player_id='584995' first='Jeremiah' last='Orcutt'] 27' Franklin Pierce
