He will be worked in with jet sweeps, where his speed and acceleration are major strengths. The ability to side-step defenders and gain extra yardage was on full display. Even more, once he gets going, he is hard to bring down because of his lower center of gravity. Ercolano displays strong vision to see open holes fast and then cut into them because of his change of direction ability. There is enough acceleration to get to the outside. Moreover, Capobianco runs between the tackles with good balance and control when an open lane is there. Nevertheless, the ability to lower his shoulder to gain extra yardage was a big point on tape. Using a small stiff arm to gain more separations in big-time runs would pop up as well. The foot quickness to react to the receivers and to the football was present. Equally important, Maurer shows strong discipline in zone coverage, doing a great job reading the quarterback and jumping passing lanes to create plays on the ball. Maurer's athleticism and hip fluidity to play at CB and safety were true strengths.
