We're still 6 months away from the 2026 season, but there's no better time to predict breakout stars during the offseason who have flashed in the past but haven't fully broken out yet. The transfer landscape has yet to be finalized, which may impact some of these predictions in the future. However, here is one player from each school, listed in alphabetical order, that we believe will have a breakout season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2090772' first='Parker' last='Keller'] might be one of the more overlooked playmakers in the 2027 class, but the versatility he showed at Ripley as a junior is hard to ignore. In nine games, he led the team with 506 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, added 305 rushing yards with four more scores, and still found time to lead the defense with 57 tackles. Keller also brings real value on special teams as a returner and specialist with the ability to punt or kick as well. The next step is taking that all-around contribution and turning it into a true centerpiece role during his senior year. If he continues to expand his offensive impact while maintaining that defensive and special teams presence, Keller has the type of profile that could move him from under-the-radar athlete to a name recognized across the state.

2028 WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1624373' first='Jenner' last='Keen'] had a productive sophomore season and looks poised for a larger spotlight as he heads into his junior year at Ritchie County. At 5'7 145, he is not the biggest target, but the production speaks for itself with 44 receptions for 616 yards and seven touchdowns while still contributing defensively with 21 tackles and an interception. His basketball background suggests the kind of body control, agility, and athleticism that often translate well to a playmaker in football. Without full film available, the numbers and multi-sport profile offer a good starting point for evaluation. If he builds on this sophomore output and becomes an even bigger focal point on both sides of the ball, he has a real chance to emerge as an All-State player as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='1700917' first='Ethan' last='Christian'] quietly turned in a strong sophomore season at River View and looks like a player whose profile could grow quickly over the next year. The 6'0 170 athlete accounted for more than 1,000 all-purpose yards and seven touchdowns while contributing in multiple phases, a workload that shows how heavily the Raiders leaned on him. He moves well for his size and plays with a smooth, fluid style, whether he is working as a receiver or lining up in the secondary. The ball skills stand out early as he tracks it naturally, looks it in at the catch point, and shows enough quickness and light feet to create space in his routes and make defenders miss after the catch. With another offseason to add strength and refine the details, Christian has the kind of frame and athletic profile that could push him from an under-the-radar name into the conversation as a legitimate scholarship-level prospect by the time his junior season ends.

2027 EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='1877757' first='Zion' last='Christian'] forced his way onto the radar at Riverside this fall and finished the year looking like one of the more disruptive edge defenders in the 2027 group. The junior piled up 53 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks, production that reflects how often he lived in the backfield. He wins with quickness and the ability to bend around the edge, traits that show up consistently when he's turned loose as a pass rusher. While he may not have elite length for the position, the athletic profile and motor give him a strong foundation to build on. If he keeps stacking development on top of a productive junior campaign, Christian has the kind of trajectory that could push him even higher among the top prospects in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1881424' first='Brennen' last='Carpenter'] heads into his senior year with a fresh start at Roane County after a productive junior season at Calhoun County, where he accounted for 1,100 passing yards and another 560 on the ground despite playing on a struggling team. The move allows him to step into an opening at quarterback for the Raiders and take command of an offense that traditionally leans on the run. Carpenter brings the athletic profile to make that system work as a dual threat, and his background as a basketball standout shows up in the way he moves and competes. What makes his transition interesting is the possibility that he can add a more consistent passing element while still operating within the structure of the Wing T. If that transition clicks early, Carpenter has the tools to turn a solid junior year into a much bigger senior campaign in a more competitive setting.
