Music City Mayhem: Scouting The 12U Champions

The Music City Mayhem 7v7 tournament concluded on Sunday afternoon, and the talented NPA Dream Team captured the division championship. They were loaded on all levels, as they dominated their competition, winning nearly every game by double digits.   I carefully watched this team throughout the day and took notes on some of their best players. So, in this article, I'm going to be scouting five of their stars.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   QB Colton Beltran   Colton Beltran for NPA 12U Dream Team was impressive on Saturday and even better on Sunday. He offers good size for his age and position, while having intriguing tools that make him one of the top quarterbacks in Tennessee for his class.   The young signal caller has a nice deep ball, solid touch on his passes, good anticipation and does not get rattled. He made some mistakes throughout the weekend, but never let it affect him.   He's a talented player who's earned a lot of praise from people around the state, and for good reason.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   DB Omari Claybrooks   Omari Claybrooks was arguably the best defensive back at Music City Mayhem. He was truly lockdown, allowing very few catches and targets. He possesses great size for his age, but is a fluid mover and has excellent awareness of his surroundings.   The NPA Dream Team defensive back was thrown at few times, with all resulting in pass deflections or interceptions. He's a very complete player and should develop into a very good prospect in the future.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   WR Ian Boone   NPA Dream Team's Ian Boone is a terrific talent with high upside due to his great size and athleticism. He's already pushing 6-foot with a strong frame and speed that make him near impossible to guard.   Boone is that do-it-all receiver with the ability to be a deep threat, while also catching short passes and making contested grabs. He has all the necessary tools to become one of the best prospects in his class.   I'm a big fan of his game and can't wait to watch him grow as a player.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   WR Brycen Hathaway   Brycen Hathaway was another quality player for NPA Dream Team. He offers good size and athleticism, making him a dangerous player on the gridiron. The impressive young buck is highly explosive, making several big plays throughout the weekend.   He can take the top off defenses, but is willing to take what teams give him. Hathaway was very productive in the short game, but did show off his elusiveness and breakaway speed with several chunk plays. He's a terrific talent who should grow into one of the best at his position.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   WR Luke Clinite   Luke Clinite from NPA Dream Team caught my eye early due to his size. He's much bigger than kids his age, which is to be expected; he has great genes. His older brother, Jack, who plays tight end for Lipscomb Academy, is a large human being as well.   The younger Clinite was an excellent receiver for his team, making several downfield catches, a few being contested grabs. He has solid speed and the ability to find holes in coverage.
