Music City Mayhem: 12U Standouts From Day 1

The Music City Mayhem 7v7 tournament kicked off on Saturday, and there was plenty of good football. I was assigned the 12U Division, so I want to talk about some of the top performers from Day 1 of the event.   I've chosen five young prospects to discuss, all of whom showed good things. All five are on the offensive side of the ball.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   WR Liam Stocker – NPA 12U   Liam Stocker was my favorite 12U prospect from Day 1 of the event. He's well-built, already getting near 6-foot as a 7th grader, but also possesses impressive athleticism and skills. The young bucker receiver catches everything, runs crisp routes and is effective after the catch.   His team used him mainly for downfield shots and 50/50 balls, but he's shifty and can make big plays after the catch.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   ATH Judah Hite – 256 Family 12U   Judah Hite was one of the most well-rounded 12U prospects in terms of straight skills. He isn't the biggest kid, but he will certainly grow. However, Hite was relatively polished for his age and showed flashes of what he will become.   The young playmaker can make tough grabs over the middle of the field and take contact, but my favorite part of his game is the elusiveness. He constantly shook defenders and made chunk plays for 256 Family 12U.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   WR Jett Grossaint – X3 Impact 12U   Jett Grossaint was another highly skilled wide receiver for his age. X3 Impact had a handful of intriguing offensive players, but Grossaint stood out among the rest.   He offers solid size for his age, but the pure athleticism is impressive. The young receiver took several short catches for 15+ yards, including a few touchdowns. He is the definition of slippery and elusive.   Grossaint showed out on Day 1, catching the attention of everyone at the tournament.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   QB Colton Beltran – NPA 12U Dream Team   Colton Beltran for NPA 12U Dream Team was the best signal caller in his division, and there was a drop-off to the next-best. He offers solid size and has been coached well by this elite program.   Beltran has a nice deep ball, but can make throws all over the field. He anticipates well and has a good feel for the gridiron, allowing him to pick apart opposing defenses.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   WR Ian Boone – NPA 12U Dream Team   NPA 12U Dream Team's Ian Boone was a fun player to watch on the opening day of this event. He's a big kid for his age, offering a long frame that allows him to have a significant advantage over every single defensive back he has faced.   Boone is that do-it-all receiver with the ability to make plays downfield, but also take a short gain to the house. He's a complete player for this age group, but has a lot of room to grow as he looks like one of the future stars of Tennessee football.
