From the Notebook: 10U Division PRZ Route 66 Classic
To finish up my coverage from the PRZ Route 66 Classic in Springfield, Missouri, I would like to take a look at a few more 10U athletes that were in this division. As I went back through my notes, this group of players stood out for different reasons. Whether it was effort, technique, or playmaking ability, each showed something that deserves recognition. These are names that earned a spot in the notebook.
Noah Carlson Noah Carlson 4'10" | 85 lbs | QB MO - 2034 - Southwest 7 - Graddy Real Estate (MO)
Noah caught my eye this past weekend in the prep redzone route 66 classic where he played consistent both days. Noah threw an accurate ball all weekend and showed the ability to make good reads. He works through his progressions without locking onto one receiver and delivers a strong deep ball. He made smart decisions and avoided forcing throws into tight coverage, showing good command of the offense.
Preston Freeman - 2034 - 5P (MO)
Preston is another good athlete from 5P Academy who had a good showing this past weekend. He excelled on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and in the secondary. Preston showed good footwork and good eye discipline that helped put him in good positions to make plays on the ball. He does well at driving on the ball once the quarterback releases the ball that helped with a few interceptions throughout the weekend.
Rome Simmons - 2034 - 5P (MO)
Another from 5P Academy, Rome, that showed out well this past weekend. Rome played multiple positions on the field that included quarterback, wide receiver and in the secondary. While at quarterback, he threw some good footballs and has athletes to distribute the ball too. He threw a really nice corner route that led to a touchdown in the semi-finals that helped propel them into the championship game. Rome was all over in the secondary and made plays all over the field.
Jacoby McDaniels - 2034 - Arkansas Diamond Boys (AR)
I really enjoyed watching the Arkansas Diamond Boys play this past weekend and after each game you could see confidence coming from each rep. The first athlete to talk about is Jacoby McDaniels who is in the class of 2034. He did a good job by helping cover the middle of the field and played physical. He made several plays on offense and was a weapon for his quarterback to hit.
Max Carter - 2034 - Arkansas Diamond Boys (AR)
Another player that had a good weekend from Arkansas Diamond Boys was Max Carter. he played at wide receiver and corner back. I liked how physical he was out at corner and his route running abilities he displayed on offense. He made several catches throughout the weekend and is just a good overall athlete to keep watching as the Diamond Boys make their trip to Atlanta coming soon.
Jordan Sullivan - 2034 - Arkansas Diamond Boys (AR)
Sully, as you heard several times caught my eye on Saturday in pool play and continued to impress on Sunday. Jordan was one of their deep threats and had a couple long passes that he caught for a score. He really tracks the ball well and for his age shows good body control watching the ball all the way in to his hands. He plays good in coverage and does a good job breaking on the ball at the right time.
