Our Winter rankings update pinpointed even more players from the 2027, 2028 and 2029 classes who have stood out in their respective positions. For a variety of reasons, our team decided that each of those new additions were worthy of a coveted spot in our rankings.

But as you've discovered by following along, we're nowhere near done.

As we traverse the offseason, we're also seeing a changing of the guard. And, as such, PRZ South Carolina is constantly looking at as many of the 10,000 or so prep football players in the SCHSL and SCISA ranks as possible.

Now, the Community Film Room is back.

In each edition, we'll break down five unranked players from across the state to let you see what we're seeing. The series will lead right into the the start of the spring rankings cycle, the ever-growing importance of the summer program schedules and then the 2026 season.

In Episode 77, we're breaking down an Upstate two-way threat just starting to show his worth, a SCISA lineman who love to pummel people, an Upstate receiver proving his knowledge of the offense as a whole, a hard-hitting GSPD middle linebacker and a player from the Catawba River Region who rarely leaves the field.

McDowell was really only scratching the surface of what he could do as a two-way contributor as a sophomore. And, to a degree, we believe he's only just now starting to show what he is capable of as he gets closer to his senior season.

At 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds (give or take), McDowell makes up for some size disadvantages as both a receiver and corner/safety by showing what effort can do. His pick-six against Byrnes late in the year was his third interception of the year, but it showed how his aggressiveness absolutely works for him.

On the flip side, he's a natural slot given his shiftiness. As his body control continues to develop, he'll see even more targets than he did as a junior, when he produced 16 grabs for 275 yards and two touchdowns, as well as another 64 rushing yards.

The ferociousness White brings to the game, at the SCISA level no less, makes him a shoo-in for a large number of notability in his immediate area. The physical tools he's doing it all with makes him a lock for even more distinction on a wider scope this fall.

As the Swampcats' starting left tackle, White is downright mean, often swiping would-be pass rushers to the ground and then making his way downfield to hit someone else. And while his 78-inch wingspan is clearly helping him there, what he's able to do from the defensive line is even more impressive.

He knows when to split blockers, go around them or simply drive through their chest en route to the backfield. Thanks to that reach, he's a terror for opposing backfields and has caused more than his share of in-play audibles needing to be called by being so active. If the physical growth he's reportedly had in the last 12 months is accurate, that's not good news for LMA opponents.

Bush established himself as a reliable threat for the Patriots when he was in the lineup, and as the season progressed his knowledge of the offense even led him to some varsity reps at quarterback, including the playoff loss to Spartanburg. While it was a nice trick to have up his sleeve, his spot at receiver is where Mann needs him to continue to excel.

As a junior, he caught 21 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns in six games. A solid chunk of that came on an 85-yard catch and run he had against TL Hanna in mid-October, but by that point he'd already hauled in at least three receptions in four games. Translation: When Bush was playing receiver, he was getting chances to produce.

Rolling that into his senior year, Bush's approach to the offense and vice versa should pay even more dividends. He's a talented route runner who knows how to confuse defenses with some pre-snap motion and has no issue going across the middle of the field.

Brooks is a name you might not know yet, but you're going to hear all about him during his senior season if even a fraction of the team's goals for him stay on track. He's a player who caught 30 passes for 671 yards and seven touchdowns, added 58 more yards and two touchdowns on the ground, returned some kickoffs, made 36 tackles and four interceptions on defense and scored touchdowns four different ways.

Now, the real fun begins.

In many of those capacities on offense, defense and special teams last fall, Brooks was working his natural instincts with the ball heading his direction while the staff was still getting its feet under it in a new program. Brooks is every bit of a leader for the Bearcats moving forward; hence, the advanced warning to keep tabs on him in the months ahead.

Williams is probably a couple of vertical inches away from being on a lot more colleges' radars, but we're here to tell you he's probably not that far off anyway. The 5-foot-9, 210-pound middle linebacker brings some serious pop to a Tigers' defense that will need even more of it this fall.

He averaged north of five tackles per game as a junior, and as he became even more comfortable with his spot, we also started to see a significant and consistent uptick in his ability to disrupt plays behind the line of scrimmage.

Williams' pursuit ability is there. He might not be a blazer in the 40, but his lateral and straight-line quickness gets him exactly where he needs to be more often than not. The fact that he also played a hand in four turnovers (three forced fumbles, one interception) also tells us he's got big-time playmaker written all over him.
