CCC: 2027 Session 1 MVPs, Award Winners

DORCHESTER | The first few hours of the biggest offseason event in South Carolina didn't disappoint.   Rising seniors from around the lower half of the state kicked off this year's Carolinas Coaches Combines series at Woodland in Session 1 on Sunday with hopes of not only impressing the all-star coaches in attendance, but doing something special enough to warrant some eye balls from college recruiters.   Consider both boxes fully checked.   “It's a blessing for me, just knowing I have the capability to come out and here compete against players from other schools,” overall Session 1 MVP [player_tooltip player_id='378969' first='Jaiden' last='Kelly-Murray'] of Oceanside said. “Knowing I'm a 2027, I still have to go out and do what I can do. … I know [Oceanside] is going to be a heavy [Class 3A] favorite. We've got my boy Aiden. We've got that connection already. It's going to be dangerous with me and him on the same offense.”   Kelly-Murray (pictured) led a list of early session honorees. He was joined by a lengthy list of players who either set high-water marks in individual combine events or were named to the various   TOP OFFENSIVE LINEMAN   [player_tooltip player_id='1271255' first='Hayden' last='Crockett'] Hilton Head   Crockett, primarily playing at guard during the combine, was dominant against a variety of would-be pass rushers during the individual drills portion of the event. That came after he set the top mark in the bench (more below)   TOP DEFENSIVE LINEMAN   [player_tooltip player_id='1172361' first='Matthew' last='Ponkow'] Bishop England   The quick-footed edge put on a display driven by his footwork. On one snap in particular, he juked outside then cut back to the interior directly the quarterback dummy.   TOP OFFENSIVE COMBO   [player_tooltip player_id='1172364' first='Mah'ky' last='Green'] Cross   The Trojans' starting tailback was impressive start to finish Sunday, making the most of his individual sessions after putting up above average numbers in nearly all of his individual combine events.   TOP DEFENSIVE COMBO   [player_tooltip player_id='1763266' first='Brayden' last='Harris'] May River   Harris was able to play a few reps of lockdown coverage while holding his own start to finish.    TOP OFFENSIVE SKILL   [player_tooltip player_id='1094944' first='Aiden' last='Manavian'] QB, Oceanside Collegiate    The three-time state champion put on a passing clinic in windy conditions, including several throws he was able to complete to Kelly-Murray during the mini-7-on-7 window.
