Beyond the MVPs: Music City Mayhem 15U Shutdown Defenders

15 total 15U teams are competing for their ticket to the PRZ 7v7 National Championship in April, and have shown out at the Music City Mayhem in Murfreesboro, TN! We highlighted some Defensive MVPs from day one here, but more defenders stood out from this weekend and impressed further!

2029 Motion Boyz Elite ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1406130' first='Anden' last='Watson'] brought juice to the field on both sides of the ball and never really slowed down. He's a twitchy, explosive athlete with light feet who snaps off routes with sharp cuts and separates quickly. On defense, he played bigger than his size, competing with energy and hustle on every rep and staying in the fight against larger opponents. Watson carried himself with confidence throughout the weekend and consistently found ways to make his presence felt.

2029 Superstars (IA) WR/DB Vernon Rollins showed his value as a two-way player and really started to come on defensively as the weekend progressed. With a long, lanky build, he used his length and range to make things difficult on receivers and disrupt passing lanes at times to make plays on the ball. Rollins has intriguing upside on both sides of the ball, and the athletic traits are there for him to continue developing into a playmaker. He's a name to keep tabs on coming out of Iowa as he keeps progressing.

2029 D1 Nashville WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='2113922' first='Treon' last='McAdoo'] showed off his versatility with flashes on both sides of the ball and looks like a player who can grow into multiple roles. He projects well long term at receiver, where he served as a steady option in the passing game and came through with a few key plays. McAdoo also held his own defensively, using his length and athleticism to create matchup issues at defensive back. His frame and movement fluidity give him plenty to build on as he continues to develop.

2028 Next Level Chicago DB Ezran Johnson made his impact felt from the safety spot with a high motor and constant activity on the back end. He played with great effort and competitiveness, showing the range to cover ground in a hurry and be involved all over the field. Johnson closed on the ball with urgency every chance he got, using his speed and quickness to arrive in a hurry and challenge plays. Offensively, he brought a quick, shifty presence with noticeable burst and served as a reliable safety valve when the play needed an easy completion. On defense, Bennett's closing speed stood out as he covered ground quickly and made plays on the ball. He moved fluidly in coverage and showed the ability to recover when challenged, making him a well-rounded athlete who stayed involved from start to finish.

2028 731 Elite DB [player_tooltip player_id='1187500' first='Ayden' last='Woods'] may not have the biggest frame, but he made his presence felt with how he competed on every rep. A scrappy two-way player, Woods really stood out on the defensive side where he stayed attached in coverage and showed fluid movement skills throughout the day. He played with confidence, challenged receivers, and consistently held his own, proving to be a tough matchup despite the size difference.
