He has outstanding feet and balance that allow him to make impressive cuts in the backfield and on the second level. Defenses have to corral him and gang tackle, he will find a crease and exploit it. Once he is in open space, he can weave through defenders without losing speed, leading to explosive runs. Between the tackles, he is exceptional at getting skinny through the gap and running through contact. Once he gets through the first and second level defenders, his stride opens up as he has the speed to split the defense in half on his way to the endzone. Likewise, he has the speed to bend the corner on perimeter runs, becoming a challenge for defensive backs to tackle. He is a physical downhill runner with great feet, as he presses the gap and then jump-cuts to daylight. Because of his size, he runs through arm tackles against the defense's front seven, and secondary players do not want to tackle him downfield. He has great feet running in between the tackles, being able to jump cut to the open gap, and then accelerating on the second level. Where he really excels is on outside runs and sweeps, having the speed to outrun defenses or the ability to stick his foot and the ground and get vertical quickly. Additionally, he has great ball skills as he will be flexed out into the slot and utilized in the pass game. His low center of gravity leads to big gains after contact on all levels of the defense. If defenders tackle high, they slide right off him; if they try to hit him low without using their arms, they bounce off his legs. His feet never stop moving, which creates extra yards by pushing a pile or even breaking free of a gang tackle. Once he hits the second level, he can hit another gear, as you'll see him running by defensive backs in the secondary. Cannon is extremely effective in Dublin's Wing-T as both a rusher and a blocker. The majority of his runs are gap scheme and between the tackles. He runs his track so fast that defenders in the box don't get the chance to square him up on run fits. He maintains a low pad level, which helps him to run through contact. Once he gets to the open field, he finds daylight, and defenses struggle to catch him.
