Arlington High School quietly had a strong 2018 football roster that proved it has gone overlooked from the record while playing the highest level of competition in West Tennessee.

However, they sent three players from that roster to the Division One level, with plentiful success from two players and a third who tragically had his college football career cut short.

[player_tooltip player_id='1732081' first='Kenneth' last='Walker'] III was a tailback that flew under the radar during his entire high school career, finishing on most recruiting sites as a two-star prospect, but that did not stop Wake Forest from taking a chance on him. He immediately made an impact rushing for 579 yards during both the 2019 and 2020 seasons before transferring to Michigan State.

He exploded on to the national season as a junior for the Spartans, rushing for 1,636 yards and earning All-American honors. He won countless awards including national recognition as the top running back (Doak Walker Award) and top offensive player (Walter Camp).

He was still doubted for the NFL level due to some physical and athletic limitations, but the Seahawks believed in him enough to ue a second round selection to make him the tailback to help take the offense to the next step. That has come to fruition as he has become one of the most reliable running backs in the entire NFL and led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl this season, winning Super Bowl MVP in the process.

Devin Chandler was a junior on that Arlington team and was a dynamic two-way talent that thrived as a receiver working off the talented tailback mentioned above, averaging over 20 yards per catch.

He would transfer to North Carolina state power William A. Hough for his senior season and get some increased interest that would lead to him signing with Wisconsin. For the Badgers, he would be primarily used as a return specialist.

He would look for an increased role at a new school as he transferred to Virginia, but he was unfortunately shot and killed in a shooting that took place as he returned to campus from a field trip, and his dream was unjustly cut short.

Jake Golday would breakthrough as a linebacker prospect on the next team, but was quietly waiting in the wings as the next prospect up at Arlington during this time. After two productive years, the 6-foot-4 linebacker would sign with Central Arkansas.

In his three years at UCA, he developed into a standout second-level defender and would enter the transfer portal, ultimately landing at Cincinnati.

While playing against Big 12 competition over the last two seasons, Golday took an even bigger step forward and quickly became one of the best at his position in the entire country. He now enters the NFL Draft, where he projects as one of the best at his position in a strong linebacker class.
