Nelson has been a very popular name this off-season with many programs getting into the mix and after watching his tape you can see why. In the age where versatility tops all, Nelson finds himself among the best with this trait. He can do it all. He has shown over and over again that wherever he is placed he will make a play. At 6'3 with a rangy frame, Nelson covers much ground with his athleticism. He can break plays down in a flash and has shown the physicality needed to blown up plays in the backfield or line of scrimmage. Nelson excels near the ball and welcomes the challenge of shutting down an opposing teams best weapon. He is comfortable in space and coverage, and displays high awareness on the regular. For his junior campaign, Nelson recorded 71 total tackles, 11 TFLs, 3 forced fumbles, and a pick six. He is a player who will be highly mentioned heading into the season.

Evan Morehead | LB | Shadow Creek

Morehead showed to be a very active backer with the skill to maneuver sideline to sideline with ease. He is a hybrid backer who plays extremely well off the edge, creating pressure and hunting the ball but has shown the ability to drop back in coverage and play the pass. Morehead is a strong run defender, crashing down the line and making plays near the line of scrimmage. He shows much promise as a rusher and has the advantage with his speed off the snap. He has the talent to develop into a game-changing player and has shown he will make key plays when needed.

Zach Ruysenaars | LB | Klein Oak

With over 140 tackles during the season, Ruysenaars showed his motor and nose for the ball. He was involved in almost every stop a game and proved to be an excellent tackler in space. Ruysenaars played a step ahead of the offense, filling run lanes or reading the cutback before it was made. He positioned himself in the correct spots and brought down ball carriers before they gained momentum. Ruysenaars also showed to be impactful in coverage. He read opposing quarterbacks eyes and put himself in between the ball and intended targets often. He is capable of shutting down a run game with his tenacious pursuit and does a great job of keeping everything in front of him. Ruysenaars will be a top returning player for the Panther defense and a top name at the position going into the fall.

Jones' ability to generate relentless pressure and be stout in the run game get him on this list. He is nonstop and in passing situations, he is one of the most difficult players to slow down. Jones is fluid with his movements and has shown multiple ways to get by blockers. He is physical and his quickness off the snap is amongst the best. Jones sheds blocks with violence and his closing speed is a sight to see. His playstyle is contagious and the effort to get to the ball is what leads to winning plays. Jones tallied over 100 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 26 TFLs for his junior season. He will draw much attention heading into the fall with his standout play.
