As a passer, he wants to find the homerun throw and has the arm strength to deliver it. He identifies and exploits match-ups or leverage of the secondary and places the ball where his receiver can make a play. His legs get him out of trouble against the pass rush, allowing him to extend plays and deliver an accurate pass vs broken coverage. He can layer his throws in the secondary, dropping them over defenders with underneath coverage or on a rope and away from defenders. His athleticism can be seen in boots and in the run game. Defenses have to account for him as a runner, as he is a physical runner between the tackles and has a long stride that can eat up yards in the open field. He has an understanding of where to go with the ball vs specific coverages and personnel matchups. As a passer, he is decisive and accurate, exploiting weaknesses in coverages with hole shots perfectly placed for receivers. This also comes into play on RPOs, throwing to receivers replacing the run fit defender. When the defense muddies his protection, he escapes the pocket with ease to either find an open receiver or race to a first down with his legs. Through the air, he excels in drop-back and play-action progressions, both from the gun and from under center. He sells the mesh in his play fakes, freezing defenders and finding open windows on the second and third levels. Woods works these zones by throwing over the top of aggressive safeties in the last step of his drop and working down to his intermediate throws and check-downs. He throws the ball with anticipation, hitting receivers in stride, allowing them to gain additional yards after the catch. There aren't many quarterbacks that can sell the backfield mesh as well as he does, allowing the running back to press the line of scrimmage before pulling the ball and popping his hips to deliver a fast ball to his receiver. The combination of his height and his ability to manipulate his arm angle and throw off platform makes it difficult for defensive line to swat the ball.
