As I promised a week ago, the latest rankings update for the freshmen class is finally here. Much has changed for this class since September, and this update comes at a good time as these prospects take part in offseason showcases.

The big news that headlines this February update is the reveal of the new top-ranked prospect in the class. In addition, four of the 25 players that cracked the rankings managed to land inside the Top 10. The top of the class will be the subject at hand in this report. Take a look at the latest Top 10 prospects from the Class of ‘29.

[player_tooltip player_id='1582714' first='Blake' last='Thomas'] - Blue Valley Southwest, 5'11”, 190, WR/ATH

The first two players listed should honestly be considered 1A and 1B. However, only one can be the top dog, and that is [player_tooltip player_id='1582714' first='Blake' last='Thomas'] this time around. By now most folks are aware of the incredible freshman season Thomas put together. He's been just as impressive so far this offseason. As a result, the freshman has been invited to multiple elite showcases across the country. I'm very interested in seeing the progress he'll make ahead of his sophomore year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1663254' first='Adonis' last='Dunnigan'] - Manhattan, 5'11”, 170, DB/ATH

As I mentioned, Dunnigan of Manhattan also has a strong case to be considered the top-ranked prospect. For now though, he continues to hold down the No. 2 overall spot, but has the potential to compete for the top spot this offseason. With Dunnigan's work ethic and athleticism he's destined to be great.

[player_tooltip player_id='1707575' first='Evan' last='Valencia'] - Holcomb, 5'10”, 170, RB

Valencia of Holcomb maintained his status as the 3rd ranked prospect in the class. The top-ranked running back put together a solid freshman campaign. His tape showcased his ability to slip out of arm tackles as well as his ability to make defenders miss in open space. He made a good impression at the varsity level too, with his top performance being 106 yards on just seven carries.

[player_tooltip player_id='1649519' first='Mason' last='Arndt'] - St. Thomas Aquinas, 5'10”, 190, DB

Arndt of St. Thomas Aquinas made his way into the Top 5 after previously being ranked No. 6 overall. This increase in rank comes after the freshman earned an All-EKL Honorable Mention nod. Which is impressive considering the competition level in the EKL. He's primed to turn heads this offseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='2127985' first='Brixton' last='Schwinn'] - Jefferson West, 6'3”, 205

The new No. 1 ranked quarterback prospect is none other than Schwinn of Jefferson West. This young man played beyond his years during his freshman campaign. Our staff has already documented the success Schwinn had in 2025. But it cannot be understated just how poised and comfortable he looked starting at the varsity level. I for one am excited to see how he performs during the ‘26 season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1738191' first='Kellen' last='Weisguth'] - Blue Valley West, 6'0”, 180, QB

At No. 6 overall is Weisguth of Blue Valley West. This young signal caller has a bright future as well. Weisguth's film showcases a quarterback that displays good pocket awareness, and he possesses the mobility to make throws outside of the pocket. He may have to wait his turn at the varsity level next season, but he's sure to make BVW's QB battle interesting.

[player_tooltip player_id='1871445' first='Nyeem' last='Coleman'] - Mill Valley, 5'10”, 160, RB/DB

Checking in at No. 7 overall is Coleman of Mill Valley. He's a prospect that the Jaguars' coaching staff is high on, as he was voted their Offensive Freshman of the Year. After watching his film it's easy to understand why he received that award. He's an electric running back that has the potential of being an exciting player for Mill Valley.

[player_tooltip player_id='1643493' first='James' last='Klanderman'] - Manhattan, 6'3”, 190, QB

Behind Coleman at No. 8 overall is Klanderman of Manhattan. He slid a bit in this update, but he is still very much one of the top arms in this class. With Manhattan graduating their starting QB from last season, Klanderman could get his shot at the starting job.

[player_tooltip player_id='2127991' first='Zy'Air' last='Burton'] - Wichita Northwest, 6'1”, 170, RB

Entering the rankings at No. 9 overall is Burton of Wichita Northwest. The Grizzlies have a reputation for developing elite talent at running back, and Burton is on track to keep up that reputation. He didn't flinch when his number was called on the varsity stage. Despite having multiple upperclassmen in front of him, Burton still managed to accumulate over 700 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id='2128196' first='Cole' last='Steven'] - Bishop Carroll, 6'0”, 180, LB

The Top 10 in this update concludes with [player_tooltip player_id='2128196' first='Cole' last='Steven'] of Bishop Carroll. Much like a few of his peers in this group, he is way ahead of the curve in his development. Steven is now the top-ranked linebacker in the class after earning an All-League Honorable Mention nod during his freshman season.

As I promised a week ago, the latest rankings update for the freshmen class is finally here. Much has changed for this class since September, and this update comes at a good time as these prospects take part in offseason showcases.
