Prep Redzone AL's 2025 All-State Team: DB Selections

What an incredible season! With the year coming to an end, it's time for us to give our All-State selections!   Today, we're focusing on some of the most dominant DBs in the state!   You won't want to miss out on this group of talent. Be sure to check out their film below. Now, here we go:   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">7A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='657147' first='Braiden' last='Howard'] is our new pick in the 7A. He had an unbelievable season for Opelika this past fall.   “Howard is quick, plays with a ton of speed, and dominates out in coverage. It was easy to see this both in person at camp and on tape.   I was really impressed with Howard's ability to adjust to WRs- he isn't easily beaten and wears down WRs physically, making it really difficult for them to haul in passes. Howard does a great job getting his hands on the ball- he's seriously good at breaking up and picking off passes. Offenses need to have him circled every down going into next season if they want to move the ball in the passing game.“   Howard was unstoppable this past season. He ended the year with 50 total tackles (33 solo) 5 INTs, and 14 PBUs against some of the toughest competition in the state.   In my opinion, Howard is criminally underrated and is one of the top DBs in our state's class. Be sure to check out some of his film below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">6A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='378357' first='Elijah' last='Malone'] had an unstoppable junior season for Gulf Shores this past fall, dominating everyone he matched up against in the 6A.   “Malone is extremely versatile and makes plays everywhere on the field- he's dominant in coverage, excels at corner blitzes, and can even make splash plays on special teams by blocking FGs. Malone is outstanding in press man, he's extremely physical at the LOS, doesn't allow for WRs to win off their releases, and sticks with them the entire length of the field- making life incredibly difficult for opposing QBs.   Malone has great ball skills. If the ball is thrown his way, he's going to get his hands on it- he's excellent at jarring the ball free/picking off passes, consistently coming up with huge stops out in the secondary. Malone is also really reliable as a tackler; he does a great job wrapping up and doesn't allow for any kind of yardage after initial contact is made.“   Malone did a ton for Gulf Shores' defense this fall. He ended the season with 34 total tackles (6 for loss), one sack, 5 INTs, and 15 PBUs.   If you haven't watched Malone before, make sure you check out some of his clips below.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">5A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1653623' first='Jaylen' last='Scott'] is a talented DB out of Williamson who's torn up the 5A over his first few years.   "Scott is a hybrid safety who flies around the field to dominate opposing rushing and passing attacks. He plays with a ton of speed and instincts out in coverage- he isn't easily baited, doesn't let anyone get behind him, and has the ball skills to easily create INTs and PBUs   Scott is also dominant against the run. He flies downhill from the secondary to wrap up and take down RBs near the line of scrimmage and in the open field to prevent huge plays. It's super impressive seeing how well-rounded Scott already is as a sophomore- he has an incredibly bright future ahead."   Last season, Scott recorded 104 total tackles (52 solo, one for loss), 5 INTs, 15 PBUs.   Scott has been incredibly impressive over his first few seasons. Be sure to check out some of his film below, he has a huge year ahead.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">4A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1647172' first='Haven' last='Massengile'] is a talented DB we first watched early last year, and man, he went on to really impress us in the 4A this past season.   "Defensively, Massengile is a physical DB who thrives man-to-man. Massengile is terrific in coverage and does a great job wearing down WRs and getting his hands on the ball. consistently coming away with PBUs and INTs. Massengile is also productive against the run- he flies downhill, fills in lanes, and takes down the ball carrier with ease."   Massengile made a ton of plays throughout the year. He ended the season with 57 total tackles, one sack, and 6 INTs.   I've become a big fan of Massengile's. Make sure to check out some of his tape below. He has a huge senior year ahead of him next year.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='2099838' first='Camarion' last='Allen'] is a standout DB from Southside Selma who made a ton of huge plays in the 3A this past season.   "Allen is an instinctive defender who thrives on his ability to make plays on the ball. He's quick on his feet, can stay with faster targets downfield, and has terrific ball skills he uses to track and haul in interceptions in the secondary.   I'm just as impressed with Allen's blitzing and run defense. He's a physical defender that's willing to dish out big hits down near the line of scrimmage and in the open field. Be on the lookout for him this next season."   Allen had a huge year last fall, recording 34 total tackles (3 for loss), 2 sacks, 7 INTs, and 2 FFs.   Allen really made a huge impact for his team's defense this past year. Be sure to give him a watch below if you haven't already.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1895338' first='Eli' last='Harris'] is a talented 2A DB out of Falkville who's had back-to-back years of dominance in the secondary.   "If you're throwing the ball [player_tooltip player_id='1895338' first='Eli' last='Harris']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/eli-harris-4/"></a><a></a> ' way, you're making a mistake. He's a certified ball hawk who excels at breaking underneath passes and getting his hands on the ball to haul in INTs and PBUs. I'm seriously impressed with how well Harris does in coverage. He's a constant threat over the top that doesn't allow for anything to be completed on his side of the field.   On top of that, Harris is great at getting involved against the run. He's quick to react and constantly puts himself in a good position to create in open space and down by the line of scrimmage."   Harris had another great year this past fall, recording 69 total tackles (3 for loss), 8 INTs, and 6 PBUs.   I'm a huge fan of Harris. He's a dynamic playmaker on both sides of the ball who deserves more eyes. Be sure to watch him below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='2099841' first='Kaden' last='Jones'] is a talented DB from Winterboro who had a huge senior season in the 1A this past fall.   "[player_tooltip player_id='2099841' first='Kaden' last='Jones'] had a really impressive season for Wintersboro. He's fast, instinctive, and does a great job attacking the ball in the air. I'm really impressed with how much of a ball hawk Jones is. He flies around the field and has the instincts and athleticism to easily break on the ball underneath to haul in INTs/PBUs.   Outside of his coverage skills, Jones does a great job filling in gaps and affecting the run. He's quick to get downhill, and is a reliable tackler in open space who rarely allows for big carries."   Jones had another terrific year for Falkville, bringing in 14 total tackles (2 for loss) and 5 INTs on the year.   If you haven't watched Jones before, be sure to check out some of his film below.
