Several tight ends have emerged in the 2027 class over the last few months. Here is a look at the new names that debuted in the latest Prep Redzone Rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='1748003' first='Brady' last='Johnson'] (Glenbard West)

Johnson is a 6'3” 220 pound prospect that's arrow is point up. He has a crafty route runner that has a knack for getting open in space. Like his route running getting in and out of his breaks. Runs with strength when the rock is in his hands. Brings in-line blocking with physicality with sound technique.

[player_tooltip player_id='2104990' first='Charlie' last='Fowler'] (Loyola)

Fowler can line up in-line or on the perimeter. He is a pass catcher that can get down the field pushing it vertical and has a wide catch radius. Strong hands snatching it out of the air. Good in line blocker that is willing to do the dirty work! Miami (OH), Kansas, and Michigan State have all offered since the beginning of his season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1866226' first='Owen' last='Matela'] (Lyons)

Big bodied 6'5” 220 pound tight end that is a major jump ball threat in the redzone high pointing catches in the air. Good route runner for such a big guy. Like how he can hold the block for a second and release being ready to catch the ball just like that. Productive on intermediate routes creating space giving his QB a good target to throw too.

[player_tooltip player_id='1941212' first='Lukas' last='Melton'] (Libertyville)

When you talk about true blocking tight ends this is what it looks like! With a the top TE in the state next to him Melton is almost the sixth offensive lineman that blows up defenders opening up holes in the running game and protects in pass pro.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105078' first='Joshua' last='Repmann'] (Neuqua Valley)

Quality size at 6'4” and 190 pounds. Solid hands and is a crisp route runner. Creates space on comeback routes. Good in-line blocker.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105165' first='Reid' last='Brown'] (Olney)

The Olney 6'6” 220 pound tight end is a playmaker going over the middle. Finds open space when his quarterback is on the move to give him a safety blanket to find. Excels as both a pass and run blocker with his strength and use of angles.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105166' first='Thomas' last='Prescott'] (Batavia)

Jumbo tight end at 6'5” that can split the middle of the defense and is tough to bring down with his combination of speed along with strength. Bounces off tacklers. Can release after blocks catching short passes or screens.

[player_tooltip player_id='2074376' first='Luke' last='Sickmeir'] (Wauconda)

Sickmeir had a massive game in the playoffs where he went for 280 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sickmeir high points in the air. Adjusts to the ball in the air. Runs with toughness after the catch.
