DL Report: 2029 EDGE Rusher To Watch

The 2029 Rankings are upon us, and with the next wave of prospects starting to shine across the state, we start our first look at the next EDGE Rushers, from across New York. While it is too early to evaluate a majority of prospects, we will take a Quick Look, and list some Pro's, and some areas the prospects should look to work on as they progress through the High School Level. In this article, we will look at three 2029 EDGE Rushers from across the state of New York, who you should watch.   While NY has had their Stock Up Showcase, many other states still have showcases. The Canisius star, can play both TE, and EDGE, but I like him more on the defensive side of the ball. Standing at 6'2" 235-Pounds, he displays a good build for an EDGE Rusher. Gaining a bit of good weight will help fill out his build at the next level.   He played a lot of snaps on the interior of the defensive line, where he displayed good strength and footwork of the line. I like his speed, which gives me my EDGE projection. Through film, he shows a good tool bag and use of hands, allowing him to reach the backfield with ease.   He has a high morrow, and is an exceptional athlete. With more playing time, I have no doubt he can become one of the top EDGE rushers in NY.     Next up is [player_tooltip player_id='1452178' first='Jayden' last='Damus']. The Erasmus Hall Athlete stands at 6'2" 200-Pounds. I want to see him gain good weight to fill in his frame. I see him as a player who can play as an EDGE, and at OLB, giving him good versatility on the football field.   Damus is quick, and can get off blocks faster than most players. I like his footwork, and motor while attacking the LOS, giving his a strength and speed advantage at the POA. He is an excellent tackler, and flourishes in the run game, where he can reach the backfield with ease off the EDGE.   The PSAL League continues to produce star LB's, and Erasmus Hall might have the next best prospect in [player_tooltip player_id='1452178' first='Jayden' last='Damus'].     Last up is [player_tooltip player_id='1642197' first='Cole' last='Kennedy']. Kennedy is a prospect who has amazing versatility. Standing at 6'3" 185-Pounds, he displays a QB build, which he should look to add weight to reach an EDGE rushers build. He also has taken snaps as a Lineman, where he also displays an undersized build.   As a lineman, he displays excellent athleticism, and good strength for his frame. I like his ability to reach the second level on blocks, creating lanes in the running game. As an EDGE Rusher, he has a high IQ, and a good motor, allowing him to get off blocks and make tackles.   Kennedy is a raw prospect, who with more reps, and filling into his frame, can become a wrecking ball for this talented Somers Defense.
