2025 South Dakota Superlative Awards Week: Part 1

We put our wraps on what we saw all year long in 2025 as we drop our Superlatives all week long to start our 2026 campaign with Prep Redzone Dakotas. We will have several superlatives that we saw either from camp season that led to big seasons from muliple classes, starting with Part 1 of Superlatives Award Week.

Best One Quarter I Watched

Dell Rapids St. Mary's, 9B State Championship

The first quarter of the 9B State Championship was one like I have never seen before. Never have I seen a team in the Dakotas capitilze so frequently on the special teams miscues that Avon had and put the dagger in this game after one quarter being up 30-0. They not only captilized on those special teams miscues, but also captilized extremely quickly. I have never seen puts go up so fast in a state championship game over now our nearly six years scouting the SD state football championships. Shout to the Cardinals on their 9B state championship in 2025

Best 2026 I Watched from Freshmen to Senior Season

[player_tooltip player_id='394729' first='Hudson' last='Parliament'], OL, Brandon Valley 2026

Hudson is one of the highest rated prospects we have had at at Prep Redzone Showcase, not only in the Dakotas but likely in the entire Midwest and showed why in all four high school football seasons we were able to watch him. He was our consesus #1 overall prospect in the South Dakota 2026 class and there was never a doubt that Hudson was going to move off that spot as he was massively consistent and the anchor for the Brandon Valley Lynx offensive line. He is one that not only is playing power four football at Iowa next year but make no mistake you could be seeing this young man on Sundays.

Best 2026 Small Town Steal from Last Camp Season

[player_tooltip player_id='1568254' first='Riley' last='Kerner'], OL, Wall 2026

The 6'4 315 pound offensive linemen from the state champion Wall Eagles wasn't ever a sleeper on our recruiting board, but the new Northern State commit was one that was dominating without a huge college coach audience at the North Dakota State camp over the summer. Attending as many college camps as we do and getting to know the coaches at every camp pretty well everywhere I go, I always get the question, "Who you liking today, Nate? The first school to ask me that question was where Riley is now committed, which is Northern State in which I feel could be one of the biggest steals in this class.

Best 2027 from Camp Season That Had a Monster Season

[player_tooltip player_id='1275173' first='Mack' last='Saxon'], RB, Mobridge Pollock 2027

Mack is a running back that has been on our radar for a couple of years now, but the rest of the state's football media caught wind of his monster junior season he had as an All-Stater in 2025. There isn't a running back in this class who has more of a relentless work ethic more than Mack when he got the live reps at several camps over the summer. By now, everyone has seen how durable Mack can be after contact, but his finish is why I have him as our RB2 in the class. D2 offers don't usually come this early in the cycle for most juniors but they have already come thru for Mack, who picked up an offer from Northern State at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase this winter.
