The ranking list for the Pre Redzone New England region's class of 2029 was recently updated and released on January 8, 2026. In this report, I will analyze the highlight films from the 2025 season of a few ranked defensive backs & athlete prospects I've evaluated. Each of these players demonstrates outstanding skills and shows exceptional potential for college football in the coming years.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    Film Analysis: Figueroa is a physically imposing freshman who immediately stands out on special teams and defense. His 2025 season film showcases a competitor who thrives on contact.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Strengths: He is a tough, physical player whose willingness to tackle "pops" on film. Functioning primarily from a 2-high safety look, he excels in outside run support, triggering downhill aggressively to get his nose to the ball. He shows fluidity in navigating traffic to avoid blockers and make the play. He also contributes on special teams as a punter and a high-effort gunner making solo open-field tackles.</li>   <li>Areas for Improvement: There is noticeable tightness in his hips and a lack of knee bend, which occasionally causes him to play too high in pursuit. The current film lacks significant coverage reps, making it difficult to evaluate his pass defense skills fully.</li>   <li>Scout's Take: Myles is a solid "rising prospect" with a frame that suggests he could grow into an Outside Linebacker (OLB) at the next level if the hip fluidity doesn't improve for safety play.</li> </ul>   Next Level Development:   Prioritize Verified Testing: Needs official numbers to validate his size and speed. He is instinctive with high-level play recognition skills. On the back end, he covers effectively and demonstrates excellent ball skills and leaping ability. Unlike many corners, he is very willing to stick his nose in the run game.</li>   <li>Areas for Improvement: It is difficult to find glaring weaknesses on his freshman highlights; he is a well-rounded, solid athlete.</li>   <li>Scout's Take: A true "rising star" for the Class of 2029. His athleticism and instincts are advanced for his age.</li> </ul>   Next Level Development:   Solidify Ranking: Verified testing scores are the missing piece to cement his status as a top-tier recruit. Strengths: He flashes explosive, big-play ability whether lining up at Quarterback or Wide Receiver. He possesses a strong arm and excellent ball-tracking skills downfield. The offense utilizes him everywhere—screens, downfield throws, and gadget plays.   Areas for Improvement: The sample size is too small to identify specific technical weaknesses. We need to see a full season's worth of tape to make a complete assessment.   Scout's Take: A big-time rising prospect who brings electricity to the field.   Next Level Development:   Specialized Training: Would benefit greatly from a proven WR coach this off-season to harness his athleticism. On offense, limited clips at Running Back show good vision and an ability to get downhill quickly.</li>   <li>Areas for Improvement: He appears to be playing slightly out of position; while used as an OLB/Slot hybrid, his athleticism suggests he is a natural Cornerback.</li>   <li>Scout's Take: A solid 2029 prospect who plays with high energy.
