PIAA 2A Championship Game Preview S. Columbia vs. Farrell

Farrell is also a dominant state program as they will be going for their 5^th state title. As the quarterback in Southern Columbia's wing-t offense, he is a magician with the ball in his hands. His ability to make several fakes and either run with the ball or throw it is impressive. He is also a good athlete. Then, as a thrower of the football, he has great ball placement. He shows a good ability to fake the run and then throw an accurate pass to his receivers. Hockenbroch is a good player who will need to be his dominant self to get the win against Farrell. His ability to block and catch the ball from the tight end position is excellent. As a blocker, he does a great job of destroying edge defenders. In one-on-one blocks, he shows his strength and power. Then, as a pass catcher, he is special. He has excellent hands and catches the ball in between defenders at a high rate. He is then good after the catch by making defenders miss. Southern Columbia also puts him at wide receiver, and he makes good catches there as well. His ability to make defenders miss is special. He has legit speed, and he can score anytime he touches the ball. Johnson rushed for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns in the last game to beat Seton LaSalle. Johnson will need another game like that if Farrell is going to win a State Title. He plays as both an edge defender and a tight end for Farrell. As an edge defender, he gets off the ball quickly. He is super disruptive as he is constantly in the offensive backfield. As a tight end, he is a great blocker. He is excellent at lead blocking. He pulls and kicks out defenders at a high level. He has a good arm and throws an excellent football. I like how he feels comfortable in the pocket, throwing the ball. When the play breaks down, he is then able to use his athleticism to make plays with his feet. He prefers to be in the pocket, and he excels at reading the defense and throwing balls on time.
