There's a lot of notable recruiting activity around the Northwest - with the Washington Huskies flexing their in-state recruiting muscles, the Oregon State Beavers finally working out theirs and the Oregon Ducks choosing to be selective with in-state recruiting.

Here's a look at the top stories from around the region:

Washington lands another 2027 in-state recruit

The early indication for the class of 2027 is that Jedd Fisch and his staff are doing everything they can to build a fence around the state.

That effort delivered early with the commitment of Sumner four-star wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1188109' first='Braylon' last='Pope'].

But Fisch's crew wasn't done.

This week, Washington added the pledge of Graham-Kapowsin cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='928074' first='Maurice' last='Williams'], a 6-foot-2, 180-pound defensive back with double-digit offers.

He chose the Huskies over offers from Arizona State, BYU, Boise State,Oregon State, Washington State and others.

Not only is it a good sign for Washington given the depth of the state, but the Huskies have also already secured those pledges from Sumner and Graham-Kapowsin, two of the state's best programs.

Area recruits have had high praise for Washington attention to detail with in-state recruits, and that is already paying huge dividends.

Turns out, Mater Dei five-star offensive tackle Kodi Greene, a former Washingtonian, may just be the tip of the iceberg.

Oregon State Beavers contacting key 2027 prospects

Under former head coach Trent Bray, Oregon State put on an embarrassing in-state recruiting display, offering (and contacting) far too few athletes.

The class of 2026 marked just the third time in the modern era that the Beavers didn't sign a single in-state scholarship athlete.

But that is likely to change under new coach JaMarcus Shephard.

Oregon State has made real efforts to connect with the state's top 2027s, and it was a good sign to see a holiday graphic made for Willamette linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='791149' first='Kawai' last='Chamberlin'] and Nelson wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='937176' first='Malachi' last='Garlington'].

Those two feel like sure-fire offers and the previous staff simply wasn't doing enough to make in-roads with those types of players early in the process.

Shephard appears to be changing that, another good sign of positive steps being taken in Corvallis.

Oregon Ducks will be selective in 2027

Oregon has signed smaller-than-usual recruiting classes the past two years, but flirted with No. 1 in the overall rankings and in “rating per commit” on 247Sports.

During that stretch, Dan Lanning's staff has been selective about in-state offers and “takes.”

That is very likely to continue in 2027, as Oregon has signed a sky-high percentage of bluechip prospects in the Lanning era and, so far, West Linn cornerback Elijah Molden is the only in-state recruit who fits that threshold.

There's no doubt the Ducks would love to add Molden.

Beyond that, however, it may be a quiet in-state recruiting cycle.

Willamette linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='791149' first='Kawai' last='Chamberlin']'s stock is rising quickly, and he could eventually be an offer guy.

PrepRedzone is the highest on him so far, projecting him as a potential national recruit.

But so far, he's generated regional offers, highlighted by Boise State, Nevada, Washington State and others.

But so far, Molden is the lone in-state player with a committable offer.
