KLAA: Five More Names to Know

This will be the final article for a while covering the KLAA. Even though he's underbaked in that category, he's still able to deliver accurate balls 25+ yards downfield. Additionally, Matthew tends to see the field well when flushed outside of the pocket. He isn't a run-first QB. Instead, Matthew does a nice job keeping his eyes downfield. When his number is called on a designed run, Matthew has the speed to earn explosive plays. His tape is full of quality, rather than quantity. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Pretty even with run blocking and pass pro, Hayden proved he could be a solid all-around varsity tackle. His tape kicks off with a good base block, using the D-Lineman's momentum to flush him out of the play and pancake him. Next, a solid instance of pass pro. Hayden does a nice job staying square and anchored, flushing the DE away from the C gap, making a giant hole for his QB to run through. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hayden's tape is full of good execution to the whistle. Just based on his highlight tape, Aidan's kicks have great arc, hang time, and distance. On kickoffs, he gives his coverage unit a massive advantage by making sure the ball hangs in the air for as long as possible. On field goals, his kicks are much harder to block because of that high arc. Aidan has a consistent, smooth swing of the leg that allows for maximum distance with the high arc. This highlight tape is quite long, and it does a nice job of showcasing Alex's effort and physicality. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Alex is one of those safeties who plays like a linebacker. Several highlights showcase Alex's ability to quickly crash down on an outside run or screen. If the offense got past the Novi front 7, Alex was usually there to clean things up. His angles are usually quite aggressive, and he does tend to arm tackle. Though he does a great job holding on to the ball carrier. In addition, Alex is quite physical. Part of the kick return team, Alex does an excellent job blowing up opposing players. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I really like Alex's physicality and all-around play speed. He's not afraid to get his nose dirty and pancake someone. Especially when blocking for the run, Coultan does an excellent job of earning leverage and knocking his defender off-balance before he has a chance to make a play. Plus, Coultan has a handful of promising pass-blocking highlights. He has the ability to sit back and really anchor down. Though there are times when he leans, has too wide a base, and is generally caught off-balance.
