Biggest surprise

Seeing the top four seeds advance here can't be too surprising. The biggest note might simply be the lopsided fashion in which Jeanerette handled its business against a good Logansport team, an eye-catching and encouraging outcome as the Tigers now head north against perennial power Haynesville.

Matchups to watch

Haynesville has been dominant in its run through this season thus far, but Jeanerette will likely be the Golden Tornado's most talented test to date. Can the Tigers hold their own in the trenches with familiar names and faces like [player_tooltip player_id='1610160' first='Gregory' last='Green'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1255219' first='Javonte' last='Williams'] headlining the offensive and defensive lines to free up speedsters like [player_tooltip player_id='1250294' first='Kobe' last='Gage'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1137410' first='Morris' last='Walters'] for big plays while helping at least slow down the Haynesville offense at times? Or do the big Golden Tornado front men such as seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1601996' first='Andrea' last='Brooks'] and Dakota Davis, junior L'Travious Brooks and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1607104' first='Jeremiah' last='Evans'] keep controlling games right back to New Orleans?

Overall storyline

Both of these matchups include long (four-plus hours) trips north for the visiting teams and some recent deep-playoff history in which the home teams have won handily. Does that advantage hold true again in 2025, or can one of the lower-seeded teams pull off an upset? Reigning champion South Plaquemine would have to pull off a win nearly five and a half hours from home to earn a return Superdome trip, while ascendent Jeanerette will be nearly four and a half hours from home for its bid at history.
