Scouting the Standouts: Brentwood Academy defeats CPA 38-7

After a sloppy first quarter, Brentwood Academy took control of this game and dominated visiting CPA until the end of a 38-7 victory. That all started with a goal-line interception by the Eagles defense and the game was never out of their firm control from that point forward.   Brentwood Academy has now clinched a spot in the state championship game against Baylor and their star running back David Gabriel Georges.   This BA team has stars of their own and that talent took over in this semifinal game, putting together strong performances.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    In his first season at Brentwood Academy, he has been electric as a junior cornerback prospect, adding an entire new element to the team defense.   He is very slender, but has great length (both in height and his arms) and knows how to use it in a controlled aggressive manner, allowing for him to be a sure tackler and in recovery despite the slender build.   He is a natural mover that can shift his momentum and break on the ball in the air, making him an exciting prospect at the corner position.     I have long been a fan of [player_tooltip player_id='1318538' first='Roman' last='Jennings'] and after finally seeing him play the inside linebacker position in-person for the first time this season, I continue to like what he brings to the table.   He brings a chiseled, strong frame with the ability to work downhill and wrap up quickly, making him a sure and effective tackler despite not having the longest arms.   He continues to get better against the pass, where he has made some splash plays, including intercepting a pass that floated up on the goal line and returning it all the way to the red zone.   He is going to keep developing into a very attractive linebacker prospect that just does not make mistakes and is a sure tackler.     [player_tooltip player_id='1103026' first='Bennett' last='Spillman'] really caught my attention along the defensive line in this game with his playmaking ability.   He has a strong frame at 6-foot-2 and 270 pounds that allows him to play along the front. With his size, active hands, and high motor, he is able to constantly cause disruption in the backfield.   Obviously, he comes from a very athletic family and he has really seemed to put it all together for a Brentwood Academy team that needed a defensive lineman to step up in a bad way.     [player_tooltip player_id='212335' first='Easton' last='Jointer'] has been on my radar as long as anyone as a sure-tackling strong safety prospect with good size and tackling ability, but he has taken an entire new step over the last season or two with his playmaking ability against the pass.   That was on full display with a trip to the state championship game on the line, as he broke on an underthrown deep ball quickly enough to make a play and he brought in the interception, securing the momentum that his team had already captured.   I really like the direction that the game of Jointer is headed and Miami (OH) has a sneakily good commit in the Brentwood Academy standout.    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">OTHER SCOUTING NOTES</h2>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Brentwood Academy has a plethora of dynamic receivers and I like what they bring to the table. [player_tooltip player_id='1118087' first='Eli' last='Ferguson'] is a reliable option that can just find ways to pick up first downs.</li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>I did not key my focus in enough on Brentwood Academy offensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id='1700869' first='Xavier' last='Yelder'] to write an actual scouting report, but he is big with a lean, athletic frame and can move well in space. I will be really excited to see how the junior progresses moving forward and have a feeling he will start seeing a strong amount of G5 offers come his way to keep the momentum in his recruitment going.</li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>CPA defensive line prospect [player_tooltip player_id='989275' first='Houston' last='Payne'] is a 2028 recruit that I expect to break out next season. He continues to catch my eye with his solid size, athleticism, and strong frame. He has been rotated in some in each game this season, and just finds ways to make plays when he is in the game. I like the upside with Payne as he begins to prepare for his junior season next year.</li> </ul>
