Top Title Contenders/Favorites

East Robertson: The Indians are without question one of the favorites to win it all this year as East Robertson hasn't faltered yet this season with an undefeated 10-0 record. I definitely see the Indians as one of the more threatening teams in Class 2A and a real title contender as they've consistently proven their ability to run away with the lead and finish out games strong on both sides.

Happy Valley: The Warriors are also a top title contender this year as Happy Valley has rolled over their competition this season and earned themselves a 10-0 record. Happy Valley should be a challenge to overthrow throughout the playoffs as they've proven their offense can quickly put points on the scoreboard and run away with the commanding lead.

Gordonsville: The Tigers could also make a huge run in the playoffs as Gordonsville is another undefeated squad in Class 2A that has made a huge statement on the field this year. With an outstanding team, playmakers on both sides of the ball, and an outstanding coaching staff, I definitely see Gordonsville as one of the teams to beat in the playoffs.

Milan: The Bulldogs are also on my list of title contenders as the Bulldogs haven't lost a single game this season, earning an undefeated 9-0 record entering playoff action. Milan will be a tough squad to beat as they've played excellent football on both sides of the ball. Milan's defense will be especially difficult to stop as they've been great all season long at locking down the opposing offense.

Marion County: The Warriors also have a good shot at winning it all in Class 2A as Marion County has been almost perfect on the field this season, suffering only one loss to Chattanooga Prep in week five of the regular season. The Warriors have a strong offense and a defense that can help keep the opposing team off the scoreboard. Marion County definitely has a good shot at winning it all this season.

Huntingdon: The Mustangs also have a strong chance at making history in Class 2A this year as Huntingdon has been consistent on both sides of the ball this year, falling short only once to Milan in week three of the regular season. Huntingdon's ability to play high-level football gives them a good shot at making it to the title game and possibly claiming the gold ball.

Sleeper Teams

Lewis County: The Panthers are one of the top sleeper teams within Class 2A that I believe could upset the natural order in the playoffs. Lewis County has played outstanding football all season, suffering only one loss to Lexington in week eight. The Panthers are definitely a sleeper team to watch closely as they could definitely upset some of the top teams in the playoffs.

Fairley: The Bulldogs are another sleeper team that will be worth watching closely as Fairley has only lost two games this season, falling in back-to-back matchups against Melrose and Whitehaven. Fairley should not be slept on as they've been able to lock in and shut down some talented ball clubs all throughout the 2025 campaign.

Bledsoe County: The Warriors are another team within Class 2A that I believe could make a run in the playoffs. Bledsoe County has been a top tier team all season long, suffering only two losses to Sequatchie County and Marion County. With a strong offense that can quickly put points on the scoreboard, Bledsoe County should not be underestimated in postseason play.

Mount Pleasant: The Tigers are another team in Class 2A that I believe can upset the natural order. Mount Pleasant has been able to lock in and win this season, falling short twice to Forrest and Lewis County. Mount Pleasant could be a dangerous team during the playoffs and with a strong offense and defense, they could definitely go on to shock some top-tier teams.

Top Prospects to Watch

2026 EDGE/DL [player_tooltip player_id='820950' first='Zach' last='Groves'] - East Robertson

Groves will be a tough defender on the Indians to keep an eye on as the Tennessee commit can read the offense like a book, find openings in the offensive line, and consistently pressure the quarterback.

2026 RB [player_tooltip player_id='1562203' first='Jaydon' last='Peete'] - Milan

Peete is a strong offensive weapon for the Bulldogs to watch out for as his speed and durability make him hard to stop on the run. I also like how Peete can shake tackles and find his way into the open field. It should be difficult for teams to contain Peete during postseason play.

2026 LB [player_tooltip player_id='611995' first='Jayden' last='McClure']- Mount Pleasant

McClure is another defensive prospect that I believe will make a huge impact for the Tigers in the playoffs. McClure is really good at following the ball, finding openings in the offensive line, and making crucial stops.

2026 DB [player_tooltip player_id='1648079' first='Tyreke' last='Hutch'] - Huntingdon

Hutch is a huge playmaker for the Mustangs on both sides, proving his ability to lock down the opposing offense and make big touchdown runs on the other side. Hutch should be especially dangerous defensively throughout the playoffs with his ability to make big stops and shut down the short pass.

2026 LB [player_tooltip player_id='1103033' first='Jayden' last='Jennings'] - Peabody

Jennings impresses me for the Golden Tide with his ability to spot the handoff, shut down the run, and cause heavy pressure on the quarterback. I also like how Jennings can easily break through the offensive line to pick up the quick sack.
