A pair of early sack-fumbles helped Edna Karr stack a quick lead and set the tone for a disruptive performance from start to finish.

The Cougars snatched four takeaways in all, plus a pair of fourth-down stops, to help slow down John Curtis and blow open an eventual 48-26 victory in the highly anticipated Catholic League battle.

Here's a look at 10 of the biggest eye-catchers who stood out during the contest.

[player_tooltip player_id='710991' first='Richard' last='Anderson'] — 6-4, 230 DL — Edna Karr (2026)

The big LSU-committed defensive tackle was at the center of an all-around stout unit that made yards between the tackle difficult to come by for the John Curtis run game and go consistent push to keep the Patriots' young quarterback on the move and under pressure. And finally in the fourth quarter, Anderson provided the effective victory cigar as he corralled the fumbled ball mid-air following a teammate's sack and rumbled his way 35 yards to the end zone for a final touchdown.

Cornell Williams III — 6-3, 215 EDGE — Edna Karr (2026)

Anderson's fellow senior was the edge rusher who got to the sack first on the aforementioned late turnover and touchdown, and the highlight was just the exclamation on an all-around impressive night for Williams. A slew of Cougars were able to get into the backfield throughout the contest, but none more consistently or in higher-impact fashion than Williams, who finished with at least three sacks and two forced fumbles that were both returned for touchdowns. Alabama A&M commit [player_tooltip player_id='1011625' first='Romeo' last='Brown'] has been Prep Redzone Louisiana's most consistently spotlighted edge rusher on this year's Edna Karr defense and was good once again, including an early sack-fumble. Williams hadn't garnered as much previous coverage, but flashed as much as anyone Friday.

[player_tooltip player_id='1601790' first='Kevin' last='Martin Jr.'] — 6-0, 190 LB — Edna Karr (2026)

As mentioned in previous stops with the Cougars this season, their Alcorn State-committed linebacker is enjoying a heck of a senior season starring in a bigger role as a leader in the middle of the defense and a sideline-to-sideline tackle machine. Martin was among the long list of players who worked together to slow down the John Curtis running back and scooped-and-scored an early fumble to help Edna Karr open up a three-score lead in a hurry and play from ahead throughout.

[player_tooltip player_id='1240838' first='Jamichael' last='Quinn'] — 5-10, 190 LB — Edna Karr (2027)

On a star-studded defense loaded with college-committed seniors, the junior outside backer has quietly become a consistent standout who seems to always be around the ball as a sure and hard-hitting tackler in space. And Quinn added a pair of high-impact, takeaway plays Friday with his early pounce on the recovery of Brown's forced fumble and then later corralling of a deflecting, ricocheting interception.

[player_tooltip player_id='920629' first='John' last='Johnson'] — 6-0, 170 QB — Edna Karr (2026)

The Cougars' speedy dual-threat quarterback worked the quick-passing game to the perimeter to get his receivers involved and set up a pair of passing touchdowns to receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1348420' first='Anthony' last='Thomas'] and H-back [player_tooltip player_id='920701' first='Cameron' last='Munford'] and showcased his athleticism to extend a few plays, covert an early fourth down en route to one score and then pop a 25-yard dash of a touchdown just before halftime that marked a pivotal moment to allow Edna Karr to reassert some distance at the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='1736616' first='Tre' last='Garrison'] — 5-11, 190 RB — Edna Karr (2026)

Coach Brice Brown admitted that Edna Karr ended up leaning more on its run game than even he necessarily anticipated, but the offensive line and senior running back were cooking early and often, including a pair of touchdowns — the first for Garrison through a nice inside running lane and over a couple defenders near the goal line, and the next on a play on which he was able to beat defenders to the corner and the pylon.

[player_tooltip player_id='1848454' first='London' last='Padgett'] — 6-0, 170 QB — John Curtis (2028)

Edna Karr was successful and relentless in its concerted effort to turn up as much pressure on the Patriots' young quarterback as possible, but Padgett still managed to weather that storm, take a beating and still manage to extend some plays and keep his eyes downfield well enough to make a few plays, including three touchdown throws, against the rush.

Gavin Ledet — 5-7, 165 RB — John Curtis (2026)

The senior running back found the end zone twice — first on a run between the tackles and later on a short passing play from Padgett. As much of a challenge as Edna Karr's defense presented, the Patriots' senior running backs of Ledet and [player_tooltip player_id='1737494' first='Jacobi' last='Boudreaux'] managed to find opportunities to still make plays through the screen and passing game when possible with each scoring at least one touchdown.

[player_tooltip player_id='1782867' first='Prentice' last='Mackyeon Jr.'] — 6-1, 190 DB — John Curtis (2027)

The Patriots' kept the potentially explosive Cougars in front of them and made them work longer drives to find the end zone for their offensive scores. And Mackyeon is one of the defensive backs who has stood out both times we've had a chance to see the team thus far this season with good measurables, speed and physicality for the next level and a highlight play Friday in the second half on which he did a good job keeping his coverage as Johnson extended the play extended until Mackyeon was ultimately able to jump an interception of a throw to the sideline. He joined senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='920684' first='Jeffrey' last='Curtis'] for the team's takeaways.

A pair of early sack-fumbles helped Edna Karr stack a quick lead and set the tone for a disruptive performance from start to finish.
