Central Texas Stars: Round Two Offensive Outbursts

As the state prepares for Round Three matchups, it's also a great time to reflect on the thrilling moments and performances from last week. Round Two offered a mix of everything statewide, from finalizing legacies to young stars emerging. In the Central Texas region specifically, offensive star power was on full display. Check out five of the dazzling offensive outbursts from Round Two in Central Texas.    In a dominant Mules win over Mercedes, Garza put up an all-time historic performance, totaling over 300 rushing yards and a ridiculous 6 touchdowns. Averaging over 20 yards per carry, the big-framed, rumbling, tumbling RB was virtually unstoppable. He showcased great vision and burst through the line of scrimmage, running behind his pads and hitting holes with violent intentions. DK also demonstrated his stellar contact balance, breaking tackles at all three levels throughout the game. In an unreal senior campaign, Garza has totaled nearly 2,700 yards rushing and 37 total TDs thus far. Expect those numbers to climb as the Cornell commit looks to wheel his squad to a state title.      One of the best junior signal-callers in the state this year, Sweeney has kept it rolling into the postseason, and he lit up the Pioneer defense in a Round 2 win. He completed 64% of his passes for 280 yards and 3 TDs, also adding a score with his legs. Grant was standing in the pocket, going through his progressions, and absolutely ripping strikes over the middle of the field and down the numbers. The tall gunslinger showcases a smooth, powerful release and the ability to throw with accuracy at all levels of the field. With over 4,100 total yards and 44 touchdowns on the season, Grant holds offers from UNLV, UTSA, and UNT, and he will look to lead his Greyhounds to the promised land.      One of the most dynamic postseason players statewide so far, Lancaster followed a 100-yard + TD Round One stat line with a historic performance in Round Two. In a shootout victory over Flour Bluff, Cash tallied 11 receptions for 270 yards and 4 touchdowns. He displayed a great release at the line of scrimmage, his elite 4.4 speed, and polished ball tracking ability. Lancaster was electric both after the catch and reeling in deep balls down the field. Contributing 1,400 receiving yards and 20 TDs to the Warriors thus far, expect the senior star to stay hot down the playoff stretch and add to an offer from Howard Payne.      With over 300 yards and 3 touchdown passes, Parr was in control all night long, taking what the Silsbee defense gave him and delivering deep strikes when given them. He excels at quickly reading coverages and zipping passes over the middle of the field with anticipation and accuracy. "KJ" boasts a great frame along with the athleticism and power to fill out a prototype quarterback. As shown in his stellar Round Two performance, the Pirates' leader at the helm loves to air it out past the third level, averaging 13 yards per completion on the year. In a breakout junior season, KJ has totaled over 2,400 yards and 27 TDs. Watch for his name in this playoff run and on recruiting boards afterwards.      In a big-time win over Lufkin, the Wolves' star two-way player was tasked with toting the rock. And he did just that, totaling over 120 yards on just 4 carries, adding 2 TD scores. Projecting to be a dynamic linebacker at the next level, Henderson has showcased this season his versatility on the football field. He runs with physicality, great pad-level, and explosive acceleration. These traits, along with his instincts and high motor, combine to make him a prodigy on the defensive side of the ball. With all that being said, one thing is for sure: Tylan is an incredible football player. With over 100 tackles and 200+ yards of offense on the season, it will be interesting to see if the Wolves ride the hot hand at RB in their state title hopes.
