2028 Rankings Update 2.0: QB

As we head into the month of December, we have entered the next round of ranking updates in the state of Kentucky. The first class to be updated in this round is the class of 2028. With that being said, I will be taking the next week or so to break down these rankings by positions. To kick things off, here are our top quarterbacks in the class of 2028 in the state of Kentucky.    While he is still serving primarily as his team's backup, [player_tooltip player_id='1217665' first='Chase' last='Bell'] has still proved to be the most talented quarterback in the state in his class when on the field. This season, he has completed 46/56 passes for 532 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception. Bell had a very strong arm which he uses to stretch the field with ease in the deep passing game. He has also shown the ability to escape the pocket when needed while keeping his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. Bell has also carried the ball 14 times for 44 yards and a touchdown this season. Chase currently holds offers from Maryland, Georgia State, Bethune-Cookman, and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect more to come his way as he continues to develop.     [player_tooltip player_id='1701057' first='Jackson' last='Burke'] has quickly climbed up our rankings with a very impressive sophomore season. In 13 games, Burke has completed 182/222 passes for 2,930 yards, 45 touchdowns, and only one interception. He is a very accurate quarterback, showing the ability to put the ball where only his intended receiver can catch it. Burke also does a great job of going through his progressions to find the open receiver. He has also scored one rushing touchdown this year. Jackson currently holds an offer from UT-Martin and I expect more to pile up for him as he is a Division I caliber quarterback prospect.     [player_tooltip player_id='1701052' first='Charlie' last='Ellison'] is another 2028 quarterback who has seen a significant jump in our rankings. In 13 games this season, Ellison completed 53/89 yards for 1,412 yards, 20 touchdowns, and three interceptions. He puts a nice amount of touch on his passes, leading his receiver to a spot where only they can make a play on the ball. Ellison has also shown the arm strength to stretch the field in the deep passing game. He also proved to be reliable as a ball carrier, running the ball 42 times for 109 yards and eight touchdowns this season. Charlie currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way over his final two season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1056924' first='Knox' last='Barrett'] has been high on our radar since his freshman year and he has continued to stand out this season. As a sophomore, Barrett has completed 204/282 passes for 2,926 yards, 36 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Knox has a great feel for pressure, showing the ability to escape the pocket when needed while keeping his eyes down the field to find the open receiver. He has also shown impressive accuracy, putting the ball in a spot where only his intended receiver can catch it. Barrett doesn't currently hold any offers but he is a quarterback who I expect college coaches to have on their radar moving forward.     To wrap up our top five quarterbacks in the class of 2028 in the state of Kentucky, I have [player_tooltip player_id='1604542' first='William' last='Shoptaw']. Shoptaw had an impressive sophomore year, completing 210/346 passes for 2,798 yards, 23 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 12 games. He has a cannon for an arm which he uses to lead his receivers down the field and hit them in stride in the deep passing game. Shoptaw has also shown impressive ball placement, putting his passes where only his intended receivers have a chance to catch them. William is another quarterback who I expect college coaches to be paying close attention to going into his junior year and moving forward.
