Week 6 Recap- Standout Defensive Performances Across the State

It was easy to see this both in person at camp and on tape.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>I was really impressed with Howard's ability to adjust to WRs- he isn't easily beaten and wears down WRs physically, making it really difficult for them to haul in passes. Howard does a great job getting his hands on the ball- he's seriously good at breaking up and picking off passes. Offenses need to have him circled every down going into next season if they want to move the ball in the passing game.</em>“</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Howard had another great week against Dothan, racking up 6 total tackles, one INT, and one PBU.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I don't know if there's a single corner playing better than Howard right now. He explodes off the snap, plays with great speed and leverage, and can easily work his way around offensive linemen to get into the backfield and make plays.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>I'm most impressed with Lyles' pass rushing. He has an impressive blend of speed and power and a wide variety of moves he uses to quickly get to the quarterback and generate pressure/rack up sacks.”</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lyles was unstoppable against Auburn this week, racking up 5 total tackles (3 for loss), 3 sacks, one FF, and one hurry.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lyles is a rare talent we need to appreciate before he heads off to the next level. He's been having an unbelievable season. Snipes explodes off the snap and plays with great leverage, quickness, and pursuit to create huge stops all over the field- it's hard to believe he's only a freshman.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Snipes has already proven to be a dominant run defender. He's terrific at setting the edge and can fight off multiple blockers to get his hands on the ball carrier and create some impressive hustle plays all over the backfield.”</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Snipes was unstoppable against Baldwin County, recording 8 total tackles (3 for loss) and 1.5 sacks. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's been awesome watching Snipes this season. He's emerged as a key piece of Saraland's defensive front in a short amount of time. QBs actively avoid Fleming's side of the field; he provides such good coverage that some QBs won't even look his way.</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>Fleming also plays with incredible instincts and athleticism- he is terrific at identifying and reacting to plays, and has the speed to fly around the entire field and create huge stops regardless of where he lined up pre-snap</em>.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In a huge 34-12 win over Hewitt Trussville, Fleming recorded 8 total tackles (2 for loss), 2 PBUs, and a blocked FG.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fleming has emerged as one of the top defenders in the state this season.
